Get to know Cape Tribulation (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Cape Tribulation.

Cape Tribulation is one of the most amazing natural spots on Australia's east coast, in the far north Queensland. It's well worth getting a hostel for a couple days. This is one of the few spots in the entire world where the tropical rainforest meets the sea.

The most spectacular way to get to Cape Tribulation is using the cable ferry that crosses the Daintree River, where you'll have dense rainforest, riverbanks, and small hills in an unforgettable scenario. You will find a more wild style of life -- all of the villages north of Daintree River get their electricity only from generators or natural sources like wind or sun.

Getting into the beach, you can choose one of the two where the rainforest goes right into the sea -- Myall Beach and Cape Tribulation Beach -- each separated by a cape. Although the views are magnificent and the water looks like something you need to try, don't do it! There is a high probability of crocodiles in the water and the many signs around will ensure that you don't forget it, but there aren't great risks if you just enjoy the views in the sand.

The village of Cape Tribulation is really small, but is worth a stop. While here, you can explore the surroundings, including the Great Barrier Reef. Take night guided walks to spot crocodiles or cruise with them in the Daintree River, have a safe swim in the shallow coral sea (but not in stinger season), or just go for nice coastal walks with amazing views.

You can reach Cape Tribulation by bus with Jungle Tours, Cape Trib Connections, Foaming Fury, and Transnorth. If you rent a car, it will be easy to get to the village, but you will need a 4WD to make the Bloomfield track.

The hostels in Cape Tribulation village are nice, but there are not that many -- although usually you won't find all of them fully booked. Keep in mind that Cape Tribulation's hostels need to produce their own electricity and that means that the prices here can be a little bit above average.
