Get to know Jaipur (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Jaipur.

Jaipur is one of the largest cities in Rajasthan and has an abundance of things to do. The easiest and cheapest way to get to all of the major sights that you want to see is to hire a tuk tuk driver for the day at a flat rate and get him to wait for you at each place. The best sights to go and visit are the Amber Fort, City Palace, the Wind Palace, and the Pink City. Each of these will take you an hour or so and have some interesting history and insights into the foundations of the city of Jaipur.

Jantar Mantar has some amazing sundials used to tell the time back in the day. The views from over Narahgarh Fort are impressive and extend out over the Aravalli Mountain Range that runs through Rajasthan. There really is enough to do here for a good couple of days if you are willing to hammer through it all. It is possible to spend four or five days here is you are wanting to go at a more leisurely pace, especially during the hotter parts of the year.

There is also quite an impressive cinema where you can go and see a Bollywood film -- it will be in Hindi, of course, but these movies are still easy enough to follow -- and there is a great atmosphere in the theatre.

Accommodations around Jaipur are scattered. The easiest way to navigate your area is to ask your Jaipur hostel where the best restaurants and other amenities are in your area, as this will vary based on your location.
