The Manager sets to tone to a great adventure
he loves his staff. they are dedicated to great service, because they love what they do. Olivier is great. and the staff carry his traditions. it is heaven in all forms. Great breakfast, great staff, and great bar owned by hostel next door. It is a highlight of the trip. Be prepared. Olivier is the god above the paradise he shares with you -- you will hate leaving. book for longer, as places go quickly.
Great place all around...

Hippie hostel, nice staff
Staff was nice, area fine, but really, really sketchy at night. Clean, but the bathroom smelled like pee even though it seemed to have been cleaned during the day. Nice terrace.
You get what you pay for
Pretty bad hostel overall, though the location is good. The staff were friendly and helpful enough, directed me to a local bank, grocery store, and electronics store, but nothing in the hostel works very well. My fridge stopped working after the first night; the bathroom was too small to turn around in; the room was very dusty; there was no elevator; my sink was so small that it flooded whenever I turned it on; the WiFi was spotty; and I was overcharged for my room due to a booking area. This hostel is ok for its price, but it was very uncomfortable. It lacked basics like soap and toilet paper. The breakfast wasn't bad.

Do not take upgrade
Booked a private double room in the main hostel and was offered an "upgrade" for free to a private studio with own kitchen. Thought this would be a bonus but upon arrival discovered the studio had a futon/fold out couch bed which was tiny and rock hard. Hardly ideal for two people over 6ft tall. Breakfast in the main hostel was great, the cook was friendly and a bag of fun. The main hostel looked great, but do not take the upgrade -- not worth it!

Lovely staff; lively, friendly atmosphere; exciting location
Great breakfast, fantastic atmosphere and interiors, happy evenings spent with the boy working at the reception and the other people staying, nice dorms, and the dorm window looked straight up through the houses to the Sacré Coeur!!

Nice breakfast, but thats all
Me and my girlfriend weren't very happy there. Our room was quite cold every time and we couldn't change temperature on the airconditioning. We found some hairs in the bathroom. It doesn't matter if it was from cleaners or from guests before us -- that was disgusting! Shower in our room was almost useless. It was probably engineered by some donkey! If they have got the same shower in every single room -- OMG!!! During the breakfast we had to sit always in sweater, jacket, and this staff -- because we felt SO COLD in there! Food is nice, but the place is cold. We paid for 2 extra towels, but one of them was smelling like it has been washed in vinegar! If their disinfection normally smells like that -- OMG!!! There was NO WARDROBE in our room and that is so stupid thing, don't you think???? Plus even NO hooks as well! Their lift was working only one day (when we were staying 4 days in there during Xmas time 2009!). It wasn't nice to carry our heavy luggage by ourselves (1st day up to 4th floor and last day back). Sometimes our keycard wasn't working and we had to go to reception and back to 4th floor (stairs ... stairs ... stairs ...). When we came cold and tired from the town, believe me that problem with keycard was really annoying! We won't go there again -- we had very strange Xmas time.

Very happy stay, would recommend to all
I stayed here in October 2008, and traveled with one other female friend. Good location, close to Gare du Nord station (few streets away from Sacre Coeur, which we could see from our window). Right off a main touristy street that caters for the church's visitors. Reception are friendly, place is cosy and inviting. Kitchen is provided, though it may take you hours to cook on the hotplates. But the breakfast provided is good, but its basic. We stayed in a four-bedroom mixed dorm, with en-suite. No problems with room or bathroom, everything is clean and in good condition. Supermarket across the road is very convenient, a major pro of the hostel. Closest station is Anvers, but for some reason we never got on there, and instead walked a little over five minutes to the Barbes Rochechourt stop line, which went to more of the tourist areas without changing lines. You'll need to take the metro to most attractions in Paris from here, but its not a long ride at all. Also the hostel is in the Montmartre area, which has all the good restaurants and trendy bars, which is a plus.
Good hostel, amazing location in Monmartre
The four-beds dorms are nice, and located in a very quiet street (and you see the Sacré Coeur from the window!). yes, you are a few minutes from the crowd and the touristic agitation, but it still a quiet place to stay, you can socialize in the common room, it's not a party hostel though. good breakfast. the best thing is the location, two minutes from the metro, two minutes from Sacré Coeur, halle saint Pierre (naive/outsiders art museum), and shops, and not so expensive for Paris. the kitchen is basic, no oven, not a lot of dishes. staff ok/average. I would recommend it.
