Danhostel Copenhagen City Hostel Reviews

Danhostel Copenhagen City Hostel is a large hostel with beautiful views of the city in a good location. They are able to provide plenty of fee-based services. The hostel seems very busy, but still feels spacious in the common areas and safe enough. The lift giving access to the rooms is only operable with your keycard, and you can only go to the floor you are assigned to, preventing people from unnecessary accessing floors for extra safety.

The Location

The hostel is located just south of Tivoli Park, which is a very central location for seeing the sights of the city center at Christiania. Parking might be difficult and expensive, with the paid parking on the street. There seem to be some parking spots from the hostel, but we used public transport. The hostel is reachable on foot, as it's just a short walk from the central train station.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The dorm room is split into two, so you’ll only have four people in your room. Both smaller rooms are accessed by the same keycard-locked door. Each bed has a light, and power plugs are easily found in the room, but not with each bed. There is a small entry area/hallway with lockers and doors to the two bedrooms and a bathroom with toilet. The bathroom and shower are fine -- there's a good shower, with hooks and shelves for your stuff. The downside, though, is that the toilet is also here. We all know the issues that can cause with ten people who want to access the bathroom for various reasons.

Common Spaces

The hostel is very big and can feel somewhat like a hotel in the social aspect. There is a spacious sitting area in the lobby, with power plugs with each table. Furthermore, there is a bar area for drinks and snacks. In the morning, breakfast is served here; it's expensive, but so is Copenhagen in general. Downstairs, there is a small game area with table football and tennis. Additional conveniences they offer include vending machines, ATM, bike rental, and luggage storage. The guest kitchen can only be accessed after asking for a key; we reckon this keeps it from becoming overly crowded and dirty.

Summary

This is a hostel with hotel-like service and atmosphere (in some aspects). Everything seems well kept and clean. The location is very good, and so is the view, especially with the Tivoli fireworks this year. Overall this is a good hostel, but just keep in mind that Copenhagen is expensive, and for Copenhagen standards this isn't even that expensive.
