Best Yet I had the best time here thanks to the manager Fred and Lilly. The moment we walked in the door Fred was so friendly and helpful. He organised the best Xmas ever. There were so many activities Fred and Lilly organised that it was hard to choose which event to go to. Fred and Lilly left the hostel which is disappointing to hear (due to management) and wish them to return. The place is not the same again. P.S. Fred and Lilly do tandem surfing which is amazing the best i have ever seen! The personnel was really friendly and helped us planning trips. The hostel was pretty clean and the kitchen was convenient with 2 big fridges, lots of plates. I would recommend a stay at Caloundra City Backpackers. — Caro, Germany (2012-05-30) Definitely one of the best hostels ever! A lot of things have changed. First of all the management is new, apparently everything changed with them. The atmosphere is very familiar, the staff and the management are very friendly and helpful. They organize a weekly free barbecue and a 4-dollar (all you can eat) pizza night. Furthermore they offer a lot of free time stuff like free bikes, free surfboards, free tours (glasshouse mountains) and workshops (painting or things guests want to show to others). The internet connection is good and free! (fixed PCs and wireless access). I didn't experience a group problem, I experienced something totally different. I arrived there alone but you get integrated in the group very quickly. But it is still very clean and the beds are comfortable. All in all I can really recommend a stay in the hostel, you won't regret it. — Tobi (2009-06-28) The double rooms are ok, with en suite and TV. The kitchen has two stoves, two sinks, two fridges, many cabinets and drawers, but also lots of ants. The owner likes to make sure it is kept tidy by pestering the guests about anything that's left out any time he's there — and that's a lot. There is a lounge room with comfy sofas, TV and books, and a balcony for the upper level if you wish to smoke, but this area is locked at 10 p.m. The owner has a way of sneaking up on you out of the blue, and he's always there. There wasn't such a nice vibe to this place, and the price escalated during the Easter holidays. I wouldn't return here. — Anon (2005-09-02)
