Response from the accommodation: Thank you SO much for the amazing write-up about us! We would just like to add 3 corrections, if we may: 1) The city is spelled "Olomouc" (not Omolouc). 2) On the dorm room floor, there are 3 dorm rooms, not two ... an 8-bed, a 6-bed and a 4-bed. 3) On the dorm room floor, we actually have one toilet (with sink) ... one toilet and shower (with sink) ... and one shower (with sink). Maybe you are thinking the private room floor, which has as you described, but is only shared between 3 private rooms. Once again, we are VERY honoured by the review! All the very best, The Poets
Poets' Corner is a small hostel, owned and run by former backpackers. We've tried to create the kind of place that we would like to stay in ourselves, with a comfy common room, big, bright, well-equipped kitchen (even a toaster, recycling facilities and fresh herbs on the windowsill in summer), spacious dorms and spotlessly clean bathrooms. The sofa in the common-room is a favourite place for browsing through our reading library and book-swap.
Olomouc is the historic capital of Moravia. It is the Czech Republic's fifth largest city, with 100 000 inhabitants, and is home to its second oldest university. The main attraction is the historic centre of the city, and the Holy Trinity Column is UNESCO-heritage-listed. The historic town hall, socialist astronomical clock, cathedrals and the series of baroque fountains are highlights. The many student bars, cafés, restaurants and the rich cultural life of the city are all within easy walking distance.
Moravia is the second historic land of the Czech Republic. More agricultural and less populated than Bohemia, it retains closer connections to the folk customs of the past. A long musical tradition survives, and everyone will tell you that Moravia is the friendliest part of the country. Popular day-trips from Olomouc include the two spectacular castles, Bouzov and Helfstyn, the Javoricko caves complex, the UNESCO-listed archbishops' palace complex at Kromeriz and the outdoor museum of wooden architecture at Roznov pod Radhostem.
We highly recommend the region and city, and we would be most happy to host you during your stay!
