• Getting from San Jose to Cartago to Paraíso
• From San Jose you have 2 options. You can:
• 1) Take a bus from San Jose to Paraíso, and then from Paraíso you can take a taxi directly to us. The bus from San Jose to Paraíso runs every hour from downtown San Jose (across from the Plaza de la Democracia in Av. Central and Calle 15) and goes through San Pedro to Cartago and then to Paraíso. This bus does NOT run on Sundays.
• OR
• 2) Take a bus to Cartago (Lumaca bus station located in Calle 5 and Av. 10), and then take a bus to Cachi. The bus to Cachi passes nearby our street.
• ***There are also buses that run from Cartago to Paraiso frequently. You could also take a bus from Cartago to Paraiso and then take a taxi from Paraiso following the “Getting from Paraiso to El Salto Inn…“ directions below.
• In Cartago…
• Get off the bus at the second major stop in town, next to the Iglesia de los Padres Capuchinos, walk to the end of the block and turn LEFT for the bus stop to Cachi. Tell the bus driver, “El Salto de la Novia Cascada.”
• Getting from Paraiso to El Salto Inn…
• Whether you are on the bus from Cartago riding through Paraiso on to El Salto inn, or if you are directing a taxi driver from Paraiso to El Salto Inn, the directions and things to look out for are the same.
• If you are in a taxi, start by telling the driver “El Salto de la Novia Cascada, abajo de Mirador Ujarras” (Ujarras is pronounced OO-HA-RAS). Whether you are on a bus or in a taxi, about 10 minutes after leaving Paraiso on your right hand side you will see the Mirador Ujarras, a lookout point/ national park with a restaurant on one side and a hill with picnic benches on the other. About 100 metres after you will see 2 houses on the right side again, one yellow and one pink (with Egyptian decorations and pharoh figures on the gate). About 45 seconds later you will see a lesser maintained road on the right hand side. If you are the bus you will pull the string and get off here and continue on foot. Turn right onto this road (or tell your taxi driver, “Ir a la derecha” and continue down about 200 metres to the bottom. On your right side again you will see a dirt mound/partial roadblock with a “Brewha” sign in it, turn right again. The house is located on this road about 350 metres further. We are the first and only white gate on your left. Continue down the driveway on foot to find the house.

• From San Jose head East towards Cartago on the Inter American Highway, drive through Cartago and go towards Orosi/Paraiso/Cachi. After you pass through Cartago you will pass a large Walmart and then you will arrive in Paraiso about 5km later.
• Continue straight through Paraiso on the main Avenida 0, keeping the park and church on your right side as you leave town. Continue down the same road, as it will eventually wind left and right. After about 5km (or 6 minutes) you will pass the Mirador de Ujarras restaurant/bar and look out spot with a white and blue fence, keep going another minute and you will find a road that looks less maintained on your right side. You will want to turn right onto that road and go down another 20 seconds until it turns sharply to the left. There will be a partial dirt mound/road block on your right. Turn right through the roadblock and continue 200 meters, we are on the left with the big white gate.
• Do not use the road marked in red on the map, its closed and you’ll not be able to get to El Salto Inn.
• In El Salto Inn we try to give very comprehensive directions, so please contact us if anything is unclear or visit our site ElSaltoInn.com
