Description

We offer a unique lodging and wildlife contact experience here in the beautiful Chiriqui Highlands of Panama.

Guests are allowed to interact with wildlife such as monkeys, snakes, parrots and more. The best part is that your lodging and volunteer dollars feed the animals, allow us to rescue others and support our animal education and therapy programs,

We have many 'petting zoo' animals such as bunnies, baby goats and a horse who we help us in our animal therapy program which we offer free to handicapped and autistic locals in need.

The hostel is clean and comfortable, with a spacious kitchen and shared bath with hot water.

If you're looking for more privacy, stay in the studio/efficiency apartment.

Our on-site restaurant is open for lunch, dinner, and cocktails. Enjoy a bird's eye view of the tropical rain forest with your favorite beverage from our outdoor patio, and if you want, we'll light the outdoor fireplace for you!

Location and Contact

Location

• Jungla de Panama is located in the cloud forest of Palmira, less than 10 minutes by cab or bus into the mountains from Boquete, Panama.
• By taxi:
• Any taxi driver in Boquete will know where Jungla de Panama is located but you can always say “Jungla de Panama en Palmira, por favor” and you should be fine. You can expect to pay $4-6 for the ride but always be sure to ask “cuento cuesta” before getting in the cab!
• By bus:
• You can also take a bus from Boquete to Palmira for a dollar. You can usually catch the bus in front of the mini supermarket Mandarin, which is to the right and across the street from the Parque Municipal. Look for a bus with Palmira and Boquete written on it; that’s your bus! Everyone will get off the bus and it will turn around once you get to Palmira. You will get off at a rather large bus shelter across the street from a mini supermarket. Walk a couple hundred meters past the supermarket, keeping the side of the building on your left, and you will find Jungla de Panama on your left.
• By car:
• From the town of Boquete, head south along the main road (Via Boquete) towards David. Drive for approximately 5km (3 miles) and turn right at Plaza San Fransisco. Be sure to look carefully since the road is not labelled. Before coming to Plaza San Francisco, you will pass a gas station, a mini supermarket (Alto Dorado), and finally a school (Colegio Benigno Tomas Argote) all of which are on your right hand side. Drive up the mountain (approximately 3km) until you reach an intersection where you will see a large shelter where people wait for the bus. Stay to the right of the shelter and drive straight past the mini supermarket on your left. Jungla de Panama is a couple hundred meters ahead on your left.
• From the town of David, head north towards Boquete along the main road (Via Boquete). Drive for approximately 40km until you reach Alto Boquete and turn left at Plaza San Francisco. If you see Colegio Benigno Tomas Argote or the mini supermarket Alto Dorado, you have gone too far! Drive up the mountain (approximately 3km) until you reach an intersection where you will see a large shelter where people wait for the bus. Stay to the right of the shelter and drive straight past the mini supermarket on your left. Jungla de Panama is a couple hundred meters ahead on your left.
