Hotel Ermitage

My wife and one-year-old daughter stayed here for four nights. Overall, it was a decent hotel. The rooms are tiny but clean. There is no elevator, but it's an old hotel so one shouldn't be expected. It was a pain climbing up to the fifth floor, though. For backpackers, or those who don't require too many comforts or space, I'd recommend it. The price is excellent. There are two metro stations about four blocks away. The location is not touristy, which is nice. You don't see many menus translated in several languages, like in other parts of Paris, so it does have an authentic feel to it. There are nice ethnic restaurants and local brasseries nearby. We particularly enjoyed the Indian restaurant Samsara on Rue Jourdain. On nearby Rue Pyrenees there is an outdoor market which has lots of good stuff. Numerous Internet cafes, bakeries, laundries; the location has everything. There is even a nearby church if you are so inclined. I recommend this place.
