Descrizione
For the alternative traveller, we offer beds in families' homes in the small Kurdish farming village of Yuvacali, which is ideally situated for Urfa, Nemrut, and Diyarbakir. The village is dominated by an ancient settlement mound dating back to around 10,000 BC.
Stay on a smallholding, and get hands-on with milking the sheep and making the bread.
Bedding is handmade floor matresses and brightly colored quilts, with the wool being supplied by the families' sheep. Heating in winter is by eco-friendly dung-burning fires, cooking takes place as much as possible in the same way. Water is from a local well supplied by rainwater. All produce is homegrown and guaranteed to be totally organic.
Join the family for a huge breakfast of homemeade cheeses and yoghurt, organic preserves, freshly baked bread and cakes, with tomatoes and peppers straight from the garden.
Sleeping in summer is on flat rooves, just as the locals do, with views across the Sanliurfa plains to Mount Nemrut. Each room in a family's home can take up to six guests, although private rooms for small groups, couples, or families will be willingly provided upon request.
Use Yuvacali as a base for exploring nearby cities, both Urfa and Diyarbakir can be easily visited in a day. Mount Nemrut is a ferry ride across the Euphrates away. Guided walks of local ruins are available.
