• Lefkada is the only island accessible by car, without the cost of a ferry. It is connected to the Akarnanian mainland by a floating pontoon for a constant flow of vehicle traffic, and is also a swinging bridge.
• There are five departures daily from/to Athens (378 km) by coach (KTEL of Lefkada) which cost 33,80 euros and twice weekly from/to Thessaloniki (420 km) which cost 35,40 euros. It takes about 5 hours and a half to arrive to the island from Athens and 5 hours from Thessaloniki. There are also regular itineraries from/to Igoumenitsa (115km) which take about 1 hour and a half to Lefkada and they cost 12,20 euros and also two scheduled trips from/to Patra (187km) which are 2 and a half hours away and they cost 16,20 euros. The ticket from/to Preveza costs 2,70 euros. Tickets with return cost less so if you are planning to return on a specific day do not forget to ask for a return ticket as well.
