Jagatram Niwas Guest House Reviews

Description

Jagatram Niwas is a family-run homestay guest house in the ancient village of Heini, in the foothills of the Himalayan Dhauladhar range.

The guesthouse is situated above Dharamsala and McLeodganj - the home of the Dalai Lama - and is an ideal base for trekking, excursions, and exploring the locality.

The views and natural surroundings are stunning, with diverse flora and fauna, including kites, monkeys and mongooses.

We have a selection of comfortable, stylishly furnished twin and double rooms, some with attached bathroom and use of shared kitchen, and some with use of our four shared bathrooms. Breakfast is included and we can also offer traditional Himachali home-cooked dinners.

The atmosphere is welcoming - the two brothers who own Jagatram Niwas live on-site with their families - but guests may also enjoy privacy as they wish, sitting out on our huge terraces. Whether you are looking for activities (including trekking and yoga/meditation courses in the area) or a peaceful retreat, Jagatram Niwas offers a great holiday.

Location and Contact

Location

• Please note that, although village Heini is officially part of Upper Bhagsu, road access is via McLeodganj and Dharamkot.
• Jagatram Niwas is located 20-25 minutes from McLeodganj. To reach the guest house, you can take the 15-minute taxi ride up the tarmac road to Dharamkot and along the rough jeep road to Heini, followed by a five to ten-minute walk through the village and its fields.
• To get back down to McLeodganj, you can make the 15-minute walk to Bhagsunag, down steep concrete steps, followed by a five-minute autorickshaw ride. You can return to the guest house via the same route, but it is steep.

• Bus: Deluxe and 'local' buses travel from Delhi to Dharamsala/McLeodganj, from where we can arrange taxi transfer.
• Train: From Delhi or Amritsar to Pathankot, then either a local bus to Dharamsala, or a taxi transfer.
• Taxi transfers can also be arranged direct from Amritsar.
