Teepees are available for lodging if you want. Polebridge is off-the-grid! And the residents consider that a good thing -- a quick look at posters and bumper stickers tells you they are very vocal about preserving the North Fork and preventing development.... If you want to escape civilization and drink up with some great locals, this is the place. Be warned, no electricity and little indoor plumbing. My outhouse had bats in it. Being at Polebridge is like being on top of the world -- it's gorgeous! Comment by James Murphy Found myself on a gravel road in late afternoon... spent the night at the hostel with wild deer grazing along the road on the way in... a huge lumber camp wood cook stove for warmth, a battery VCR to watch an old movie until the battery went dead, a huge gas water heater on the roof for hot showers, bunk beds, unique fellowship. Been there, done that... Hey I got the T-shirt! Did I say I saw grizzly and black bear chomping down in the biggest Huckleberry Patch South of town?
