"Excellent hostel. the place to be! - Actually this was one of the best hostels in our trip. We stayed in a comfortable hut. The only inconvenient was that the showers were partly outdoors so you have to wait till the morning if you don't want to freeze. But apart from that everything was perfect. "This is an wonderful place. I would just add that the local staff are a tremendous resource. Sim is an excellent guide who knows the area incredibly well. Take the opportunity to learn from him and you won't regret it! Also, Xolani will take you to the Royal Natal National Park in the morning and back at night. Along the way you will find that he knows everyone in the area -- which lends a warm sense of the community. And the bar-man Solomon is on top of his game -- treats everyone right and sets the tone for lovely nights in the bar."...  more »

"Harrismith is not a place worth visiting, but if you're looking for a place to crash on a visit to the Drak or on the way to or from Jo'burg this hostel works great. It's basically just a house (with a security gate, so it's safe) with a small free-standing cabin that works as a double for couples or good friends who are secure in their sexuality. There's also a dorm that sleeps about six. The owners are real friendly, and it was cheap — 120 Rand for the double as of December 2004. "Great place for venturing into Lesotho! - I stayed for two nights at Sani Lodge. The owner runs a whole lot of trips into Lesotho. I did not go on any of them, but I heard great things from people that did. I had just spent four days camping at the top of a mountain and was more interested in the fireplace, which worked really well. The owner is also the author of "A Backpackers Guide to Lesotho" and can advise you of travel there.
