"Very affordable - I stayed here twice and will return. My single rooms were clean, comfortable, and quiet because I requested quiet rooms. The staff were great and very helpful. "Three friends and I just returned from a holiday in Queenstown, and throughout our ten days in Queenstown we stayed at 'Backpackers Downtown Lodge' in Shotover Street. "Nice hostel but psycho owner - The hostel is a lovely place but the owner Evan is crazy. Basic things to know are that the hostel is fifteen-minute walk from town and there are much closer hostels in the area. Secondly, minimum three-night stay which means that if you book initially for more and want to change it to less, you cannot. Also only forty-eight-hour cancellation policy (even thought we booked twelve hours in advance so it didn't exist).
