"Glenorchy Backpackers Retreat is situated at the heart of the village, directly behind Glenorchy Hotel. The hostel is relatively small with 2 dorm rooms (one 3-bed, one 6-bed) and a double room in the main building and another dorm (4 beds) just across the path. The beds are a mixture of bunks and non-bunks, with one very narrow bed in the 3-bed dorm. The beds are all made up and are comfortable enough for a few nights sleep. "On the holiday park map this hostel is actually described as 'the bunk house' and this is all you should really expect. There are no frills here, but then the price hints at this and you get what you pay for. The dorms are pretty large but all the beds are of solid wood construction which reduces creakiness, and are fine for a nights sleep. There is only one heater per dorm, which is pretty effective if there are a few bodies in the room to warm things up too. However, the heaters aren't the quietest in the world and light sleepers...  more »
