"The Lion's Den hostel is a very small hostel run by a very friendly owner who treats everyone like family. This hostel has a personable environment. "My friend and I stayed here for over two weeks and on the whole everyone was so lovely and generous! We did a bit of work around the house to pay for our tent site because we were short on money. It really seemed to be our home for a while. Lovely people!!!" … "In December 2005 I was here during my bike holiday to celebrate Christmas. It was really fantastic. "The hostel and hosts were excellent. Always available, willingly looked after my valuables, provided good advice, and made a phone booking for me using their local knowledge. I would unhesitatingly recommend this hostel to other backpackers. "Chillax - We ran this place in 1998 and it is the most beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing place that you could ever visit. Basic camping and hostel facilities but isnt that what you want? No tv or internet, just chill time! Walk, cycle, swim, kayak, fish read and relax. Fantastic scenery and very dark at night, take a torch! "Beautiful, natural and rustic. I spent four days and three nights in one of the cabins on the back of the property. The perfect escape, I felt like I was at the end of the world. And the best spot to be to see the beauty of the Coromandel Peninsular. Right at the back of the cabin is a creek and a fantastic walk to a waterfall. The only reason I didin't give it five stars was due to the semi-detached shower (spider danger!)." … Colville Road  more »
