"We intended to stay in the motel section of Gagudji Cooinda but it was "booked out" — although to us it actually looked half empty so we stayed at the "outback quarters." My partner and I have traveled around the world and stayed in many hostels, in all honesty, this was the WORST place I have ever stayed! Yes, it was clean BUT the room was tiny — there were three people (a single bed and a bunk) and we could hardly walk between the beds. "This is a VERY BASIC hostel, but the atmosphere and remoteness (although not far from Jabiru) are wonderful. Walks and an amazing river cruise available from front door of hostel. Not a place for those wanting any luxury. The only reason for going to Darwin is to access Kakadu National Park. I and my two children (daughter, fifteen, and son, seventeen) signed onto a three-day camping tour of Kakadu with Kakadu Dreams. Nez was our guide, and presented us with a fantastic view of this immense park. Camping is the only way to really grasp this incredible area. My daughter became entranced with the digi, and purchased the "right" one just before we rolled back into Darwin. — "Juanito Hayburg"
