Danimarca Comments

Gudhjem is not the sleepy village it was twenty years ago. The grain storage building is gone now and the harbor area has a few more restaurants. The large open surface where fishermen used to repair their nets has not changed much. I can imagine my grandfather there as a boy, helping his father bring in the catch and carting it home, ready for the family women and elders to smoke the herring the next day. The Gudhjem train station history and art museum is absolutely precious. The modern art museum just north of Gudhjem is another local treasure. I love the architecture, the simplicity of the long building as it steps its way down the slope to the sea, with a trickle of water running from floor to floor and down each stairway. How wonderful it must be to sail from Sweden to Gudhjem, tie up in the harbor, and adjourn for a pleasant lunch with wine before turning in for the night. I liked the thought of walking on cobblestone streets my grandfather walked on as a boy, and now my son…
I fell in love with Odense.
I have been in Odense for five months. It was the best days of my life. I want to go there again!
Copenaghen - what a grooooooooovy city! Sex in the city!!! ;) And tequila in the tequilabar!
This is one of the coolest cities in Europe. People can sometimes seem to be a little bit cold, but Danes are great if just take some time, drink some beers. Christiania is nice, even if you don't smoke weed! Copenaghen is best during summer though!
Christiania is absolutely sh*t. If you are not drug addicted avoid going there. Go to Nationalmuseet instead. It's free and definitely one of the best museums ever seen around the world. Supermarkets are not more expensive than in Italy. Two complete days are more than enough for Copenaghen.
