can get uncomfortably crowded during midsummer, so if like me, you want to make some good photos and avoid the tour groups, get up at 6 or 7 in the morning, and the city is almost yours until the tour buses arrive at 10. You can then hire a bike tour the surrounding canal paths and visit the beautiful little town of Damme.
is a surprising little place.
I spent one year in
and I can tell you that it's a great town. The people are very kind and the place is very clean and beautiful. It's worth going there.
If you are interested in history, Napoleon, World Wars, or airplanes, I recommend the Cinquantenaire Army museum -- a wonderful place. This museum was a highlight of my stay there. And if you stay in
for a week or more, you definitely have to take a trip to Antwerp and especially to Brugge.
A capital of Europe, it is a must to visit! From a fastinating 'La Grande Place' to the Cartoon Museum and it's the best chocolate producing country in the world! This makes prices of chocolate low with the variety of brands and tastes. Come to visit
… Great place. We would love to go back there. We definitely recommend the canal tour -- sit up the front of the boat as it adds to the experience going under the low bridges. The food is also great -- many a quality bakery and some great little pubs too.
