Recensione di Hostelz.com
A fairly nice hostel about 10 mintues walking distance from the train station. It has a full kitchen (closed during the day) and good bathrooms. There is a small sitting area near the reception desk and a huge stone courtyard with tables and chairs and there is a basketball/soccer court. It's usually pretty quiet. There are occassionally people around to hang out with but it isn't a very social hostel. There is an early lockout starting at 9:30 AM. Guys and girls rooms are separate, except for when there are mixed groups of friends staying together (and that's only allowed during summer). They only accept reservations by phone.

Stay away if you can
Hostel Santa Fosca is not a safe place. The hostel is run by the students of the nearby university. The keys to the rooms are often left unattended during the day in the reception and literally anyone can come in and just take them! The access to the hostel rooms doesn't lead through the reception (but through an open courtyard accessible from the street ), so there's no control over who comes in/out. One night during the stay a thief came into our room in the middle of the night! Before we woke up and scared him away, he managed to steal my friends telephone and all of her money. We went to the police to make a report. The police told us that hostel santa fosca is on "the black list of hostels," that such events happen there often because the hostel has no security. Needless to say, the entire experience was dreadful. Waking up at 3 a.m. and seeing a stranger in your room going through your things is terrifying. Since the thieves can have the keys to the rooms, there's really little possibility of preventing the kind of situations that happened to me and my friends. So if you value your safety -- stay away from that hostel!

Stay at this hostel. It's an easy trek from the train station, and pretty centrally located. I was here in April 2006. No curfew, but an early lockout, which can make for a rough morning (but relax! have an espresso). This place was great, with several quiet courtyards and other nice outdoor spots to sit. The rooms are nothing special, but I didn't have any complaints (though no one was social at all when I was there). Note that Venice is the best really late at night, when no one else is around, but be careful. Venice is weird.

Coming from a uni dorm, it was just like being home. Clean rooms, each bed had its own massive cupboard, bedside table and lamp. Bathrooms were ok, kitchen looked huge, never used it though. Courtyard was nice at night if you wanted to brave the mossies. Found it alright by following the directions. It's an ok location -- Venice is so small that nothing is that far away. But the curfew really sucks.

I stayed here November 2004. It's clean and has a reasonable price. It's a little difficult to find but the location is not too far from a vaporetto [water bus] stop.

I stayed there during winter time so it was very quiet (which I liked coz I really just needed a place to sleep and take showers). The staff were very helpful, the room looked like a hospital (mainly because of the stainless steel beds), the bathroom was very clean and its soo close to the train station (I think I counted three bridges away). Early lockout isn't really a problem because you can't really stay up too late in Venice since there's not much going on at night...instead, I suggest to wake up early and walk through the streets without getting pushed around or stuck in human traffic... Enjoy.

This place is GREAT. As far as I know (and I talked to some people while in Venice) it's the cheapest place around — which is amazing for the location and the cleanliness. Rooms are huge with not a lot of beds in them, everything is so clean, and the courtyard is so relaxing. Go here if you go to Venice!!!

For a city that doesn't offer many squares and places to chill, the courtyard at Santa Fosca is brilliant. This hostel has a superb location right in the middle of the Turner-esque Venetian scene. The showers and toilets were a bit busy when I was here, and perhaps needed more cleaning attention, but it was not serious enough to put me off going back.

A nice place. It's clean, but it's not the place to go if you want to party. It's very quiet.

Excellent hostel - great location, clean bathrooms, excellent courtyard and extremely good value for Venice. Lockout shouldn't be an issue, to be honest - you've got Venice on your front step. As for curfew, Venice by night seemed pretty tame, apart from the nearby Iguana Bar on Cannaregio 2515, fondamenta de la Misericordia. It's worth "sprinting" back from. Obviously there are mossies (mosquitoes) about, but, again, this is Venice, so what do you expect? Overall, great hostel - book ahead and use your Rolling Venice, ISIC cards for the discount.

Ok, it wasn't the cleanest place, but there were no bugs. It was also cheap and near the train station. Our room overlooked one of the canals; how much more can you ask? Our room was located outside, so the lockout didn't apply to us. The staff were super nice, too, and you can save money by using the kitchen. Besides, when you are in Venice you have better things to do than sit in your room all day.

I stayed in a double, and it was great. The staff were not rude, like I had heard. In all fairness, this is the best place I've stayed at in Venice. The location is great, and it's by far the cheapest accommodation in Venice. Call ahead and make a reservaiton, though; I saw plenty of people who were trying to stay here but the place was already booked.

Great Hostel! I would definitely recommend this hostel to any backpacker who wants to travel cheap. They have an awesome kitchen and an outside lounge space. The lockout was annoying, though. But there were some cool people here.

This was a strange place. It's clean and has generally pleasant surroundings with comfortable, clean rooms and bathrooms, etc., but it's really not social at all. No one spoke to each other as far as we could make out. But if you want a bed for the night and don't mind the absurdly early lockout, and having to segregate your group (we were offered no option of sharing together in the summer, but maybe that was just us) then it's fine--just mind-numbingly boring.

Loved it! It is easy to find from the railway station, yes, but it is not to be found from P.za Roma!! Don't come by bus unless you want to be ripped off by the expensive vaporettos! For 2,5 minutes with my luggage it cost me 8E50!! It is very clean, though, and if you're lucky you'll find the room that comes with a bathroom and toilet. This hostel is definitely recommended by me!

Very quiet. It's pretty clean, except for the bunches of squashed mosquitos on the wall.
