Recensione di Hostelz.com
Apple Hostel is a clean, friendly and fun environment to enjoy all that Prague has to offer. The staff are english speaking, knowledgeable, and available 24 hours a day. The hostel is very central to Prague's attractions, a 5 minute walk to the Old Town Square or Wenceslas Square or Jewish quarter, and a 10 minute walk to Charles Bridge. It's also 50m from the metro, 50m from trams, and 50m from an airport shuttle stop. It's on the 2nd floor of an office buidling, with a supermarket, bank and department store next door. There are hundreds of clubs, bars and restaurants close by.

The hostel itself has dorm rooms and private rooms. The rooms are large and spacious, with the usual bunk bed arrangement. Clean linen is provided for the beds, but you need your own towel. There are communal showers and a very smll kitchen. Breakfast is provided daily, fresh rolls, cheese, cold meats and cereal, with coffee and tea. There is one big communal locker for backpacks and small secruity lockers for valuables (free, but deposit required). The hostel sells soft drinks, beer and wine. There is a pleasant communal area with leather sofas, stereo and cable TV, but is strictly closed after midnight. There is one computer for internet access at 1CZ/minute.

Overall pleasant and friendly, immaculately clean. Book well ahead at holiday times such as easter, Christmas and in summer to avoid disappointment.

Stay Away!
Do not stay here! If you stay here, your things will be stolen! My laptop got stolen as well as several other people's cameras in our room. The staff refused to do anything or even call the police! We had to go to the police station ourselves to file a report. And when the police came, the staff was not cooperative and took ten minutes before they let the policemen into the room. This hostel is cheap because they steal from their guests to supplement their income! Stay away!

Suitable for backpackers
event hough my stay here was brief, i enjoyed it. Great location. The staff were friendly and helpful with providing us with travel tips. the showers weren't user friendly though clean. Overall, on a scale of one to ten, i give it a six.

The Apple Hostel was one of my favorite hostels on my two-month trip, not really for the place or the staff, but for the location, and those who were there. It is cheap and right in the middle of everything. My friend and I stayed there for three nights, and every night we were told to change rooms. Personally I loved it, because we met so many different people in the process. The main common room is like a giant get-together at a friends house, with everyone drinking cheap beer and getting to know each other. There was an impromptu concert by a girl who could play this stringed Chinese instrument, Aussies who told stories of kangaroo races, and British girls who could out-drink everyone, and made sure you were trying to keep up. If you are traveling, why not have fun? I had a great time, wish I stayed longer. The only problem we had was the construction that was outside that started at 9 a.m. But Prague is a beautiful city that keeps getting better everyday, so construction isn't really a bad thing. Besides, your in Prague, get up. Go out. It's beautiful.

I made a reservation to stay here for four nights over New Years 2006/2007. It was very difficult to find available rooms, and my friend and I ended up settling for two beds in a shared quad without private bath/shower. The only nice things that can be said about The Apple is its location, and the fact that the reception staff refunded our prepaid reservation for all but the first night after we decided not to stay there! Our first impression was -- grungy. The was a heavy cloud of smoke, and a moldy, bathroomy smell. The atmosphere seemed dorm-like -- most of the guests were young backpackers, and they all seemed to be drinking and smoking in the common rooms when we arrived at 1 p.m. in the afternoon. Not where I'd want to be hanging out if I were in a beautiful city! The mattress was saggy and thin as a blanket -- and the blanket was as thin as a sheet. And the bathrooms -- let it be known right here -- have no shower stalls. The shower is a large stall with three nozzles in the wall and a transparent curtain separating it from the toilets. I have never been to a hostel that didn't at least have individual shower stalls. This was like gym class. Actually, it felt like a prison. Also, it seemed like there were very few toilets/showers for the amount of rooms on our floor. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place like the plague. There are plenty of other hostels in Prague. Pick another one!

I stayed at the Apple Hostel because I was on a school trip. It's not so clean -- no paper in the toilets, old tampons in the trash cans. There's no curtain in the women's shower: You have to shower with two stranger. Oh! And there are no locks on the toilets door. Now, beds -- the pillow is a flat as the cover, and the mattress is either very old or just very thin. There are no curtains, but you don't get up because of the light. Although, there is a building site just across the street -- it starts at 7 a.m. Finally, the breakfast sucks. But there's a store just in front on the door. Anyway, it's ok for a couple days. and cheap!

The hostel was ok considering how cheap it was but there were lots of problems with it. I got into the room and sat on the bed which immediately broke. The other beds also didnt look very stable and the pillows were uncomfortable. Also there were no real curtains and the huge windows meant it was hard to get to sleep being so light. The construction sight next to our hostel was very noisy and they seemed to be working almost twenty-four/seven making it hard to sleep. Bathrooms were not very pleasant with communal showers and you have to keep the button pressed down for the whole time or it turns off. Security was poor since we had our room broken into and expensive items of my friends were stolen whilst we were out. This was likely to have been due to the poor quality of the door making the room easy to be forced open even when we had locked it. The staff at the hostel werent helpfull when we told them about it. I would warn anyone staying in this hostel not to leave anything valuable in the rooms.

We are refer to this hostel as "The Bad Apple" and would recommend that people stay well away! It was very noisy -- some of the "guests" partied all night, shouting, running up and down the passage, swearing and banging doors. Arguments broke out which made us feel unsafe -- even though we were in a double room with the door locked. The night staff (young female) tried to deal with the situation but it was beyond her control. The bathroom and kitchen were poorly maintained and not clean. We cancelled our booking as soon as we found alternative accommodation. It seemed to us that this is not a place for genuine travellers.

This one definitely has a "Eastern European" vibe to it. I stayed here for one night in 2004. It was pretty bare bones. The room I shared with three friends had a fairly clean shower in it, but it was not private at all. There is an elevator but it was not running when I was there -- not surprising, it looked pretty antique. The best things about Apple Hostel were that we were able to make last minute reservations and it is within walking distance from everything in old town. Not the best hostel in the world, but worth the price.

The beds were comfortable but very unclean. The rooms were potential health hazards, the ladders for the bunk beds were unattached and had nails poking out of them. The toilets didn't flush properly, the showers were appalling. The receptionists were rude and horrible, and I swear they were drunk. The breakfast was stale rolls that could do damage if hit with them, disgusting drinks and old ham and cheese. You can smoke in there which is bad for non-smokers. The group I went with swear the beds contained bedbugs and fleas, and one bed completely collapsed. The only good thing was the location of the hostel, and the no curfew. The only thing this hostel should be used for is sleeping.

Personally, I thought this hostel was a dump! It was not clean at all, and I had serious doubts about the cleanliness of the bedding. Smoking is allowed inside, which is rather unpleasant if you are a non-smoker. Skip the breakfast, too. While free, it was very unappealing.

This hostel is ok for a base, the location is great and the staff were quite friendly when one of the members of our group was ill and we had to delay checkout time. However, I didn't get the impression the bedding was that clean, and the equally suspicious communal and cold showers were not really appreciated. I expect you could find somewhere better.

I stayed one night there last month, recommended by a Brazilian friend. Prague is a small town and you can reach all places by walking, which makes the hostel location ok. It's easy to find by subway, too. However, the management is not good and the hostel is dirty and smells like smoke. The rugs are old and sticky, as well as the sofa at the living room. Breakfast is poor; there is a supermarket next door and you can cook, but when I needed a wine opener, the reception just said theirs was stolen. For a little more money I am sure you can find a better hostel in Prague.

Dirty, ugly and they cheated me. I made a double room booking (twin or double bed, I can deal with it) and they gave me a triple room (cheaper than my booking) and told me they had no double rooms. It's like "what??!" Believe me, this is not a nice place to stay.

Great location. It's easy to reach the sightseeing sites in Prague's city center. The lounge was smoky, there were no shower curtains between the ladies' showers, and the toilets did not function well. The room was clean, and you can store your luggage at this hostel after check out (before you continue on to your next destination).

The streetlights shining in your room every night make sleep here difficult. The bathrooms not great, either. This hostel is in a good location though, and having drinks sold at the counter is handy. But there are better cheap places than this.
