BK Hostel is clean and friendly -- it's very tidy and well maintained and the staff are very helpful. The bathrooms are modern, clean, and functional. It is a pretty quiet place -- not a party atmosphere. There is a kitchen, laundry, TV room, book exchange, internet, and a pool table. The building is secured and you can only get in with a room key or by pressing a buzzer. There is an elevator in the building if you require.
The hostel is located on K Road, and is a fifteen-minute walk into the middle of the city. The walk back to the hostel involves a big hill. Directly outside the hostel you will find many shops, bars, and restaurants.
BK Hostel is on the corner of Mercury Lane and Karangahape Road (K Road). To get there from the Airport catch the airbus and get off at the first stop, which is the corner of City Road and Symond Street. Walk back uphill a small block to Karangahape Road, and turn right down K Road. The hostel is three blocks down K Road, on your left. It is above a "Subway" sandwich shop. The entrance is on Mercury Lane. If you are coming from the Hobson Street Bus station, go left when you come out of the bus station and go up Hobson Road until you get to Pitt Street. Go left at Pitt Street and go up the hill. When you get to the top of the hill you will be on K Road, and the hostel will be in front of you across the road.
