We are only a frisbee throw from the famous Belongil Beach with its golden sands and crystal clear ocean..A ten minute stroll along the beach towards the lighthouse and you'll reach the world acclaimed Byron Bay township with its smorgasbord of cafes and boutique shops to meander through. A five minute stroll in the other direction along the pristine sands and you'll find the breathtaking estuary of the Belongil Creek, a protected nature sanctuary.
The Belongil Beachouse itself is nestled on an acre of landscaped gardens, mostly native trees and shrubs, and we have designed and built a range of accommodation, from four separate cottages with their own private gardens, studios with spas, family rooms,to shared rooms with ensuites and a variety of doubles, and placed them strategically throughout the grounds providing spacious accommodation with maximum privacy.
With surf and boogie boards being available at the Beachouse, and the waves on your doorstep, it'll be easy for you to sample a tiny taste of the surfing life and understand why youngsters in the sixties and seventies migrated to Byron and stayed, creating over the next twenty years a counter culture which now thrives in and around the Bay. Its values, vibrant energy and colour permeate the area resulting in a truly unique Byron Bay. So grab a board, head for the beach and feel the exhilaration of wave riding ! Be careful many people have caught the surfing bug here, then life's never the same again ! But even if you don't feel like a surf I would really recommend a walk up to the Belongil Estuary, one of Byron Bay's hidden treasures. Check out our arial photo and you'll see why this stunning estuary is a protected area, particularly for the endangered Little Tern. You can swim, sunbathe, surf in peace there and the kids will have lots of fun splashing in the creek too. Its also an official nude beach for those inclined, due to its quiet and seclude location, and yes its only ten minutes walk from the Beachouse!
Of course you will only enjoy the ocean if you manage to climb out of your hammock swaying in our lush subtropical gardens, or drag yourself away from the intimate cafe atmosphere of our Belongilbeach Cafe, which is situated in one corner of our gardens. (check out their yummy menu on the cafe page].
Try booking early if you intend to visit us during any holiday period and if you haven't fixed the date, try coming to Byron Bay in the winter time...why ?...the surfs better, its not too hot or crowded, you can sit on the beach all day when the sun's out, and you have a much better chance to meet the locals 'cos thats when we like it here best!
