I liked it. It was clean, and staff was ok. the location is just perfect, the price is very cheap compared to other hostels. shower and bathroom were perfect. there was an air conditioning, it was cold when we came there and we turned on heater. for Barcelona and for that price it is really very nice place. I just did not like that they ask 2 euros for blankets -- that is ridiculous.

sun and moon is horrible! I was there for one week with my class and it was enough. things are stolen! the staff doesnt want to show the control-video -- that says enough. everyone can get a key for every room! They doesnt control if its your room or not! horrible breakfast. the rooms are not clean. the water in the shower could not flow off. the lift often doesnt work. The only thing which is very good is the position in the city! Its next to La Rambla and you can do a lot of things in the near of the hostel! But the negative site is so clear that the hostel is not adviseable. I am sure that there are other cheap hostels wich are better than this!

This is a horrible hostel. The staff are not very friendly, the air-conditioning is set on a too low temperature (you will get the famous "travelers' cold" for sure!), the common room is boring, and the kitchen is not very well-equipped. They deserve a plus for good lockers and bathrooms in the dorms.

Me and my wife stayed in this hostal for five days in august 2006.It was enough to be stolen inside our private room. And it has a electronic and "safe" key. Someone took our camera, glasses, and mp3. And the worst was how the manager and the "boss" treat us. like nothing. They just told us "maybe our insurance will call you in one month." So if you really dont want to have problems avoid this Hostal. Barcelona is amazing! Dont waste your time in the police department cause of them!

Me and my friend had a wonderful time there. It was fresh and clean. And most of all, we got to know so many fun and iteresting young people there. The location of sun and moon is perfect, next to La Ramblas. We could almost walk everywhere we wanted in Barcelona. I wouln't doubt to visit this hostel again.

This is horrible! The bath is broken, the room is not clean and the employers don't take care about this kind of problems. so me and my friends thought of cleaning ourselves the room and the bath, but later we went to another hotel. Barcelona has plenty of hostels that are cleaner so don't stay here!

Sun & Moon is the worst hostel in the world. I live in Barcelona and I book a private room for three friends that came to visit me. The private room was dirty and very, very, very little. In the room there were bottles and another sweep from the previous renters. The bathroom was dirty and ruinous. At the next day the bath spoiled itself and they offered us a change -- the other room only was a bed, there wasn't site for another things! We discussed with them and they refund our money and we went to another hostel. Don't stay in Sun & Moon hostel if you want to stay in a good place!

Do not stay here. This is about the worst hostel. Ever. In the history of backpacking. The one good thing about it was the location, but here are the details of the three nights that we stayed there. We stayed in a room with four other people (six beds total). For all the three nights we had there, no one ever came to clean out the communal bathroom. There was a perpetual two inches of water just chilling on the floor for god knows how long. There was also no air conditioning, and no linens on the beds. The staff was composed of the most elite group of jerks I've ever met. I had my credit card stolen, and they did absolutely nothing to help. In fact, the guy almost sneered at me when I told him what happened and told me to wait until regular internet hours to locate the number for and call my bank. Another girl that was staying there was charged for two rooms instead of one, and they promised they would refund her money, and then when it came time, wouldn't do it. She was telling them that she's only one person, how could she possibly have stayed in two rooms at once and they just ignored her. And even another girl on top of that had her purse stolen, and the staff was practically screaming at her while she was crying becaue she had no money to give them for the lost key! This hostel was so terrible we just forfeited the money we had paid to stay here, and rolled across the street to another hostel instead. If you have any desire to keep your sanity and have a good vacation, this hostel should not be a part of your itinerary.

If you wanna have a bad experience, go to this Hostel, It's the worst place I have ever been, the staff doesn't speak Spanish neither English at all, our room was forced and we were stolen an iPod and money, which it did not surprised to the recepcionist. Rooms are dirty also towels, and if you have two euros you can take them. Rooms are not safe, because you can open them with a simple student card. So, if you want to have a nice stay in Barcelona dont go, but please, don't go to this Hostal.

We checked out a bunch of hostels in the area before checking into this one. The person at the reception was incredibly nice, giving us breakfast and allowing us to check in at 8 a.m. instead of noon. The place is very clean compared to the others in the area for the same price. It seems to have been just renovated and everything was spotless. There were people constanly wiping the floors and cleaning everything and it always smelt fresh and clean, a lemony soap smell. We were three and stayed in a private quad room (two double beds) and it was quite big compared to the rooms we'd seen and stayed in during the rest of our trip in Spain. The walls are very thin though, but that didn't bother us since we weren't there to stay in the rooms. The age range seems a bit, late teens, early twenties. It's not really the kind of place to go for meeting other people. For us though it was perfect -- in fact compared to the other places we'd stayed in this was a blessing! Good price, breakfast included, clean place, relatively spacious room with bathroom. Breakfast was ok -- just coffee, juice, cornflakes, jam, butter and dried toast. The location is excellent. Just off La Ramblas and right next to Liceu metro station which makes it a very strategic location for exploring the rest of Barcelona. It's also very close to the shopping area. If I was to go to Barcelona again I would definitely stay there. I wholeheartedly reccommend it. It has a bright, fresh, clean feel to it unlike the dungy drab feeling you find in many hostels.

The hostel was a laugh when it comes to changing the layout of the bed rooms and having 15 people there you know, BUT! If you're lucky enough you may get a welcoming gift just for you in your rooms, and these may consist of cockroaches, spiders and someone's old smelly skanky socks. The staff there are pritty nice but freaky-- they changed one of the bed room door handles when they didn't need to be changed, just to perv on the girls that were staying in that room. Watch out for the janitor, he's weird and if you wanna turn on the shower you better do it yourself if you are a girl! The staff will also play hide an seek with you by hiding your stuff and they would say that they borrowed it from you. The breakfast: if you love a nice Catalonian or in fact Spanish continental breakfast DO NOT-- I REPEAT, DO NOT EAT IT FROM THE HOSTEL, GO OUT! GO OUT! There's plenty of nice restaurants near that area, including a burger king a block a way an a subway. The hostel's food is sour, plain and mostly dry but the hot chocolate should be tried! The restaurant next to pans on the right just across the road have a great variety of food. The bacon butties are amazing, but if you go directly 2 doors away on the hostel side there's a sandwich bar there that doesn't even know if there's tomato in the cheese sandwiches they make. If you love lifts you would love the one in the hostel, especially when the bell on the alarm is pressed approximately 10 times at 11:00pm. This caused a panic, and no one (not even the janitor) responded which may mean if there was an emergancy no one would come to aid you. The common room was an amazing place: tables and chairs only. There were some pretty nice people there. If you love the common room near there is a sofa room which contains PCs. And you will be supprised what you also see, because there is a lovey room which has been shoddily converted into a bedroom by throwing in 3 beds and a locker which isn't safe. Due to the walls being made out of paper, you could hear everything that was going on in the hostel, s we soon found out. Most of the people that stay in that hostel are friendly and enjoy a bit of comfort. If you love gay porn or porn at that matter visit the PCs in the common room; people love storing it there (in My Documents). Alcohol is strictly forbidden.

The hotel was quite clean and modern, although staff were rude and unhelpful! We were a group of seven girls in an eight-person dorm —the eighth person was a male, and having been promised that the eighth person would be female, we were not happy! Especially when he refused to move and management did nothing about it. So we had a creepy guy perving on us for four days...nice! Security does not seem tight, as anyone can walk in and out of the hostel. The private bathroom was tiny although fairly modern. Expect to take cold showers in the morning! The room was very cramped for eight people — a bit claustrophobic! We went in March so it wasn't peak season. The good thing about it is the excellent position right next to Las Ramblas. And you have to check out the falafel take-away — it's the best!!!

If you want to be stared at blankly by reception when you ask a simple question, have cold showers, and be kept up all night by the random gong of the church clock tower bell next to the hostel or every slam of a door and yell that is projected through the paper thin walls, this is the place for you! The common room is small and the kitchen consists of a fridge and three glasses. There is no Internet. Although the hostel is reasonably clean with reasonably comfortable beds by hostel standards, that's all it has going for it.

First of all, the hostel's location is just perfect. It's very central, and close to Las Ramblas. The rooms get a little crowded, though, when they are running at full capacity. The bathrooms are clean, and complete. The receptionists aren't very experienced. They let in everybody, without checking identity. You could almost walk in there and not pay for anything. The elevator doesn't work, and in a five to six-story building, elevators might be necessary. All things considered, if you can book something else do so, but this place isn't that bad.
