This hostel was not great. I think the heat added to our unpleasant stay, but first of all we had to climb seven flights of stairs just to get there. Then because the location is so central, there was noise from the streets all night long. Also, they do not include breakfast. The location is great though, especially if you want to party in Soho. And you can easily walk to Picadilly Circus. Overall, this hostel wasn't the greatest, but if you can't find anywhere else, go here.

Overall, it wasn't that bad, the best part about it was the location, as it was in a spot where everything was easily reached. I only had a problem one night where a homeless woman was staying with us, and it made the night and following morning rather unpleasant. Other than that reception was good -- it was a quiet time.

I stayed here in March 2004 for about one week. While the prices may seem high compared to YHAs in other countries; it is in fact a very good deal — given that it's in smack in the middle of Central London. The dorm room and bathrooms were fine. I even found free wireless from a place next door to surf with my laptop. Highly recommended for its location.

I've been there once for 3 nights, coming from Paris where I live... It's a nice, clean place and very central to Soho, the gay scene and theatreland--perfect to hang around London night life without spending lots and lots of pounds with cabs. There's no curfew, and at night just ask at the doorphone to open the door. 2 minutes walking to the Oxford Street tube station and the Hare Krishna temple and an excellent vegetarian restaurant. You can cook in the big kitchen and keep your food in the refrigerators without hassle. It's a good hostel.

Shame on the YHA, who have impressed me a lot all over the world, on opening a overpriced craphole like this. It actually isn't a craphole--it's okay--but the price is just jaw-dropping. Basically I've just spent four nights at the Sydney Central Hostel for the price of one night here. I hope the YHA doesn't start to exploit people in all their hostels as they have in this one. It's very clean and friendly, though!!!

Good location, but I didn't love it. It wasn't super clean, and it wasn't very friendly.

When I stayed here I shared a female dorm. The bedding was lovely and clean, and the staff were very helpful. The atmosphere in the lounge was cosy and friendly. There was Internet available, and the dining room was very nice. There was a good choice of food at supper and breakfast, and it was tasty. This hostel is very central, and the tube and train stations are within walking distance. I have been to several hostels in London, and this is one of my favorites.
