Recensione di Hostelz.com
A big, fun hostel with plenty of rooms in the middle of a townhouse neighborhood. The bar downstairs is open all night and serves a bit of food + cheap beer. There is cheap internet and 24 hour access/reception. There's also a common area in front near the reception desk. A party place, fun to hang out in, and certainly a place where you will meet a lot of people. The owners are nice enough (and play good music!) and provide luggage storage and a safe for your souvenirs. You get a free drink at check in. Breakfast is extra and is bit better than the norm. There are a couple of cheap and very good restaurants nearby.

Cleanliness is not rule #1 here. Bathrooms offer unique features like a whole-room shower. Try staying in a smaller (5-6 person) dorm if you want sleep. The attic dorm sleeps about 20-30. Key provided for the locks on all doors. Small fridges outside some of the rooms. Everyone seems very friendly here and the price can't be beat. Probably the biggest downside is that there is no metro or bus stop close by. Metro is about 10-12 minutes away and the bus is 10 minutes downhill.

Fun and friendly
Everyone was very nice, the internet was free, and the showers were clean. Their bar was good and so was their free breakfast. They exchanged euros for crowns without ripping you off. My one complaint would be the blood stain on my quilt.

Totally chill party hostel
We had a great time here. The staff were extremely friendly and really chill, about check ins, check outs, bar tabs, payments. The 75 cent beer can't be beat. However, the walk up the one hundred twenty stairs to the big dorm was a bit of a hassle, but the cheap beer fueled us up the levels of stairs. We highly recommend this place. and go around the corner to Blind Eye. and the two doors to right is the best restaurant ever!

A good time. This ain't the hostel for sissy-princesses who need a max comfort, but perfect for the not-so-rich student who wants to have a blast at Praha! It's one of the cheapest prices you can find. A few steps extra from the town center, but who cares, I've got feet. We arrived a group of ten and stayed in the thirty-six-bed dormitory. The room was interesting, all the walls were covered with inscriptions, and the other people staying there were sympathetic. I like making new encounters -- this is a perfect set-up.

Having read the mixed reviews, I was unsure about this place, but I thought, what the hell, I'll try it and go somewhere else if it's really that bad. But it really isn't! It's a bit far from the main nightlife but only a short tram ride away from the main station, although the trek up the hill is tough if you've got a heavy backpack! It attracts a friendly, relaxed crowd, and although the bar is cheap, I soon found a crowd to find the cheaper bars! Gotta admit, though, it's a bit divey, musty, and the mattresses and pillows could do with replacing (sweat-stained). But they were comfortable and the sheets were clean at least, and the bathrooms were cleaned regularly when I was there. The men's bathrooms don't lock, however, I only know this because I used them by mistake, oops! The breakfast is now included in the price -- and my god what a breakfast! Cereal, toast, hard-boiled eggs, earl grey tea, you name it, unlimited! One minor gripe is that they advertise free internet -- not entirely true, it's free for the first fifteen minutes, then you pay. Other people may not like it because it's a bit of a dive, but for the price it's a great place to crash, have a decent breakfast and, above all, meet people. One word of advice -- if you stay in the big dorm, bring earplugs, the world's loudest snorers sleep there!

Hey people well what can we say but hell we had a great time here. we stayed there on leave in Aug '06, all the utilities worked and one day the water went off. it took twenty minutes to get the bloke up and fix it and thats it. The breakfest smelled good -- didnt get to have any because we were still hangover from the night befor down in the bar. So do the right thing and stay here. And don't be a tightass and not tip the boyz down in the bar.

I'm someone that will happily party till all hours and even I didn't like it here and left after two nights. It attracts a really young (older teen) crowd that are having their trips funded by their parents. You're crammed in a room with way too many other people and the bathrooms are generally covered in vomit. If that's your idea of a party, by all means stay here.

We stayed there about two years ago, and I think it was the worst hostel experience ever (and that includes many pretty bad hostels)! We had a double room, but still we didn't sleep well because of the noise from other rooms or the common area kitchen, or the entrance door being shut all night (we tried different rooms). The beds were really uncomfortable and squeaking very loudly. Also, it was a bit far away from the center without good public transport connection. We tried to move to another hostel, but unfortunately we didn't find one. The bathrooms were not very clean either.

hey.. i stayed there twice now and i can tell its the best hostel to stay in if you're easy going and up for some fun.. i just love it and i'll go back soon!!!! i have to admit that the 36 dorm is not exactly the quitest one =) but hey you can still get another dorm.. the bar is great and you addictive by the delicious beer =) easily.. it's really close to town which is not too important to me because most of the fun is going on in places a little further away like the blind eye or the bar in clown&bard.. people there are just so much fun to hang around with ... they really open minded and don't discriminate americans at all!! if you can't handle a joke .. you know you're probably wrong there anyway because that's what it's all about...having fun, meeting knew people and enjoy your time!!! so i definitely recommand this place and already wish ya a wonderful time=)

Well, it seems this was either a love-it or hate-it kind of hostel. I freaking loved it man, SUPER SOCIAL!!! The staff were good, helpful and friendly although when my mates returned later to collect my left behind sleeping bag they were of no help at all. Ok, I think security was an issue but it is at every hostel. But I do remember ALL the doors locking and I was a room whore and slept in three different rooms on three different nights (smaller ones) not the 36-bed dorm (you got to be kidding). The hostel's location is fine. It's not that far to the main train station or town and if you can't navigate maps or the trams you are not the full quid. The bar was outstanding, covered in graffiti. Sure there was some stink graffiti here and there but there was loads of hilarious stuff too, cheap good beer and it was very social. Did I mention social? I think the Clown and Bard is by far the best hostel I've come across for this and I've been travelling for seven months. I was there three nights and there was three excellent nights had in the bar (and in local cheap restaurants and bars, too). I met some great fellow travelers. Cleanliness?? It seemed ok to me. I really loved the Clown and Bard.

Attn: Americans, do not stay here if you do not want to see graffiti urging violence against you as travelers!!! Bush and the Iraq war are stupid, as most Americans agree, but permitting hostility towards my countrymen and me on the walls is not right. These idiots who make these comments don't realize that 80% of US travelers are the left-wing Americans who sympathize with them about the war. Caution Jewish people: I saw anti-Semitic graffiti there as well!!! Not anti-Israel; bad stuff about "Jews." Many of the patrons there (Euro-hippies) were hostile towards me once I told them I was from San Francisco (which I say to distinguish myself from the Bush states). Maybe they need to be told to that the hippie movement started right here in San Francisco. However, I doubt these anti-Americans could ever give up their addiction to American culture, movies and music. Yes, but they hate Americans; so logical. Not that I didn't hear bad stereotypical complaints about Americans in Europe. (They were mainly wrong too, like 2 to 15 percent of Americans have passports; it's 25 percent, plus we don't need one to travel 50 miles like they do so that's not even an accurate comparison.) But I want to warn Americans that I did NOT feel safe at this hostel at all. Plus, I do NOT TOLERATE racist and anti-Semitic behavior. If you want a present-day lesson on why the Holocaust occurred in Europe, you can stay there. Even before the stupid Iraq war, we were the new Jews in terms of being disliked by many people in Europe and Australia because of our success. Plus, their universities pump them full of BS about America; that could be an indication why America's universities dominate the world. From what I can see on the walls there, they don't like the original Jews either. My fellow Americans, you have to know that if a hardcore San Francisco liberal says it's bad there, it has to be bad. Don't stay.

This place is a complete dump. My friend caught scabies off the mattress there. It's noisy, and it's full of people puking everywhere. The bar is great? Rubbish! We found a lot better cheaper places to drink in the town center. In fact you'll find a lot better hostels to go to that are closer to the center. Avoid it at all costs. Only the scum of the earth would ever recommend this place. I've seen cleaner hovels in the slums of India. If it hadn't been so late we would have walked out the moment we came in.

This is a really fun hostel. It was my first in Europe and it certainly exceeded expectations. The bar downstairs is a great place to hang out and read the graffiti or to meet people for a night out. The first time I stayed there I was in a five-bed room. Definitely get one of these instead of the bigger dorm rooms, as they seem a bit dingier.

Yuck! I stayed here in May 2005, and even though the price was right, it wasn't worth it. After climbing 1 million stairs, we were put in a room that resembled a chicken coop, with very uncomfortable beds and skylights that woke you up way too early! The bathrooms are decent for a hostel, though. Another downside is it's location. It's very far from the city centre.

Do not stay here. It was so dirty, the dorm room was a nightmare, and the staff were really rude.
