Happy Inn Lodge

Happy Inn Lodge looks small from the outside but the room size is big enough. The general impression is comfortable.

The Location

This hostel is situated near the train station and the bus stop -- you can walk there in five to ten minutes. The building is beautiful, with the funny "happy face" logo.

Rooms and Bathrooms

It is on top of a bar but as we stayed in the second floor, it is not noisy. The room is colorfully decorated. The rooms and the washrooms are clean. There are enough washrooms for residents and you don't have to wait. However, for each floor, there is one washroom without a curtain. It seems to be their design. We don't find it safe. In addition, there is a vent at the bottom of the washrooms so that air from both washrooms can be shared. If people use pinhole digital cameras, they can videotape everything in another washroom.

There is staff cleaning your room everyday, with the bed sheet and pillows placed neatly. However, the pillow is not thick enough, which is bad to your backbone. You have to put your clothes below the pillow in order to sleep more comfortably.

Common Spaces

There is no common area. You can either stay in your room or go downstairs to the bar. There is no kitchen for you to use. The kitchen belongs to the bar. If you want to get a cup of hot water, you may need to pay, depending on which staff is serving you. Some of them ask for money. The staff are generally helpful, as they can make reservation on your behalf for some sports activities, which can be useful to some backpackers.

This hostel is better than we expected. We love this hostel and recommend you stay here.
