Beach Hostel

Life's a beach, so why not stay at one? Tahunanui Beach (just a 5 minute stroll) is well known for its excellent sunbathing and swimming and is a world class kitesurfing destination. At low tide you can walk for approximately 2km – beautiful at sunset. The beach is not only very long but also very wide. At low tide the sheltered, shallow waters stretch out almost endlessly – this also means that the water is warm. In fact, it is the warmest water in New Zealand.

There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars within a few hundred metres of the hostel and a pub and bottle shop opposite. Tahunanui also offers mini golf, a hydroslide, go karts, a rollerblade rink, tennis courts and Natureland all within the parks behind the beach.
We offer a warm welcome, relaxed attitude and a clean and tidy hostel with all you need to enjoy your stay - a well stocked kitchen (free tea, coffee and herbs), free bikes, games, beach toys, internet, quiet garden (with BBQ), large sundeck, book exchange, off-street parking, fishing trips and golf and tennis equipment, made up beds and a fantastic atmosphere.
