Recensione di Hostelz.com
Dumil Backpackers Hostel is a fairly poor hostel, but at least it is in a good location close to shops, transport and cinema. It is cheap (around £50 per week, for a 6-8 bed dorm), has free breakfast (toast and cereal, all you can eat), free coffee and tea all day, Sky Digital television (hostellers get to control the remote!) and also free view television in some dorm rooms.

The hostel caters mainly for long term stays, but does accommodate for short term, but being a short term customer it is hard to mix in. The people who stay at the hostel are an international mix as well as a huge age mix. But you should find someone there interesting.

The hostel has 4-bedded dorms as well as 6 - 8 bed dorms too, some coming with a television. No keys are provided for the front door or dorm rooms, so security can feel a little lax, with anyone technically being able to go anywhere. The toilets and showers are easy to find and you don't have to walk long distances to find them. The staff/owners are very helpful, showing you around the hostel when you check in, and if you need any help, they are willing to help most of them time.

To get there, either catch a tube to Kensingtion Olymipia (they run from Earls Court every 15 minutes) or simply walk from Earls Court. Simply go out the back entrance of Earls Court Tube station (not on Earls Court road) turn right, walk down Warwick Road, onto Holland Road and walk on the left.

A few tips: because the dorms are big, and some even have televisions, you get some inconsiderate people, so simply bring along an eyemask (like you get on the airplane) and some ear plugs, makes the night a lot better! Also, Kensington Olyimpia is in Zone 2, Earls Court is in Zone 1, so walking to Earls Court (it's not far) will save you 40 pence every time.

Wow
Truly is or was a dump. I have heard that things have changed there. If Mr. Morris is not the owner anymore then that alone makes the hostel a better place. All he cared about was making money. That place was literally falling apart. While sitting watching TV you had to keep checking that the ceiling wasn't about to call on top of you. I had my bag with my passport stolen. But I did meet lots of great people there, lifelong friends, and I had a blast despite the disgusting living situation. I was there for about a year but survived.

very, very bad hostel
This hotel is really ugly, dirty, and intolerable. We cannot believe it before having seen him(it). A hoarse mirror which likes thanks to the adhesive tape, a shower which stinks, a kitchen which -- but what kitchen? Beds less comfortable than the ground, a security camera stolen in the room, a white wall which turns to the black, a carpet thickens as a paper. In brief, really horrible, even for 12 pounds.

Very good
I cannot understand why people didn't like their trip in this Hostel! It was for me a very great experience. It was like "Koh Lanta" but in the city. But I really like this Hostel. I wanna go every year to spend good time with my dumil friends!

Yuck!
Cleanliness is a foreign word to the guests at this hostel. I stayed here for two nights. The toilets upstairs look like they haven't been cleaned in a week, the floor creaks, it's messy. The rooms have little ventilation. People start to get a strange smell. The toilets downstairs, are a little more respectable, there's a shower, and a mirror in the bathroom. However, towels are not provided. If that is standard at all hostels, I wasn't informed. Breakfast -- What breakfast? There was some white bread, a toaster, a pot of jam, a water heater, tea bags, and sugar. Since I was with other people, who I did not want to touch, I couldn't really trust the food either. One of the girls there, took some bread out of the toaster, and knowing that I wanted it, put it on the filthy kitchen counter. Then she grabbed a filthy plastic spoon, and stirred her tea. I decided to skip breakfast and had a real English breakfast at a restaurant, on Kensington High Street. Sleeping was ok. After my flight, I was tired. The following day after walking through London, and partying, I was tired. That helped me to fall asleep very quickly. I got a white sheet for my bed, a blanket for the cold night, and something that can only be described as a flat (monopoly box) pillow. I slept on my small backpack. There is a good amount of traffic that can keep you up, and the street light will shine through the thin curtains. I just covered my face with my jacket. I only used the hostel for sleeping. I didn't spend more than fifteen minutes there after sleeping. When walking through the city, I didn't leave any belongings at the hostel (unless I was willing to lose them). The receptionist and the Russian janitor/ receptionist try their best to keep the hostel from looking like a dump, but instead of solving the issue once and for all, they simply put a weak band aid/bandage on the problem. The problem stems from the type of people that the hostel accepts are guests. The hostels doesn't enforce any sort of penalties to guests who disobey cleanliness rules.

Disaster
please shut the place down and never ever let anyone to stay in that tip. This place is not worth a penny. I brushed my teeth at bus station because I was not brave enough to do it in there, I didn't see my face in the mirror because of the dirt. Dumil doesnt know what is cleaning. Please trust me, never ever go in there under any circumstances.

Dangerous, disgusting, dirty
this hostel is terrible, dangerous, full of criminals and drug addicts. We paid in advance for five nights but had to leave after the first because it was impossible to stay in there. They didn't give our money back. They robbed us. This is the worst place I've been to in Europe.

Not for backpackers
I arrived at this well located hostel at noon. The receptionist was polite and took my money without giving a receipt. He informed me the room was being cleaned and would be ready by 2 p.m. By 10 p.m. I had no sheets, no blanket, and the room was dirty. The hostel was room for fifty-five people. Currently fifteen are homeless and drug addicts housed by the local council. There is only one shower and one toilet for the entire hostel. There are no fire extinguishers and no central heating. The evening receptionist was rude so I called the police. This hostel now has a fine for inadequate fire facilities and is under investigation for fraudulent advertising.

If you have not already booked, do not book here! My friend and I stayed at a number of inexpensive hostels across Europe, and this was by far the absolute worst. There are no locks to prevent people off the street from wandering into your room, and most of the other guests are homeless junkies rather than travelers. Our room, the "kitchen," and the bathroom were disgustingly dirty. There were actually feces all over the floor of the bathroom. The ceilings in our room and the bathroom were also decayed from water damage. The continental breakfast was basically a loaf of bread found in a common room filled with dirty dishes. Very gross place, gives me the heeby jeebies just thinking about it again.

it is the most disgusting hostel i ever stayed! the beds are uncomfortable, the toilets are bad, there are strange people who are not staying but living there which may disturb because they just behave as they are at home, watching TV in the midnight, bringing friends. it is unsafe but nothing happened, the breakfast is poor and you can hardly bear the smell in that room to eat. only thing that is good about the hostel is the price and the staff was friendly and helpful.

It was disgusting! We have never stayed in a place so dirty. There was nothing nice about it at all. The people that stayed there were dirty, there was no lock on our bedroom door which left our belongings unsecure while we weren't there. The bathrooms were disgusting, made you think twice about having a shower or even sitting on the toilet. The whole place was falling apart and needs some major work done to it. Breakfast was a joke, there was stale bread on offer and no plates or mugs to be seen. The state of the living area is awful, it looks nothing like the pictures. Our advice do not even consider staying here under any circumstances.

what I have to say about this "hostel" 1) UNSAFE!!!!! 2) The smell is unbearable. 3) A homeless man was sleeping on a rotten matress in our room 4) The bathrooms smell worse than the bedroom and may infact be the source of the stench. 5) None of the sinks work 6) The showers are a nightmare 7) Only one toilet works. 8) Sitting on it is not an option. 9) There is a large smokey room with grimey chairs all over the place. Most are soaked and stained with beer or worse, missing cushions and hold dirty grown men drinking and smoking in the dark until about 4:30 am. (or maybe longer. this is the time we left) 10) We only saw 2 women in the dirty old house. 11) The younger guys wouldn't stop harrassing us to smoke a joint with them. 12) The older guys told us stories of how they were deported from the US and watch 13) They both belligerently tried to get us into their rooms and smelled awful. 14) They lie about the rates, I can't believe I lost £10 there. 15) The place is falling apart and I am surprised anyone would want or try to go inside, not to mention operate a business in it.

A surreal experience in a very bad way. I stayed there for one night with two of my girlfriends. When we came back from a night out on the town at about three a.m. we came up to our room and found a member of staff (i.e. the cleaning guy) sleeping under the covers in my dorm bed! In addition, my sheets were a little wet and there were porn magazines lying all around the room (not ours!). When we told the receptionist he just shrugged and said that the guy was crazy but not to worry, nothing was going to happen. We wanted our money back, which was -- of course -- out of the question, but at that point that was the least of our worries. How can that happen?

it's the worst hostel ever!! i don't understand why health and safety controls don't do anything about the dirty rooms and the stinky toilets and showers. just when you check into the hostel, you notice a horrible smell. the owner doesn't care about the tenants at all or even his hostel, all he cares about is the money at the end of the night.
