Great location in Mitte! It's near all the tour starting spots, the strip of restaurants and pubs, and near an artist collective building. There is an Internet cafe around the corner. As for the hostel itself, the staff were very friendly. The rooms and showers were okay — shared. I had a private double so I was set. Thin walls. I give it a 7 out of 10 for hostels.

I was backpacking for over a year, always stayed in hostels and this was definitely the worst hostel I've ever stayed in!!! Don't even look at the mattresses, someone should call the health department. (I'm being serious now.) The showers were just disgusting. Just save your money, you can do much better in Berlin!

It's a bit tatty, and the staff's English is not fluent (though perfectly understandable). The washing facilities are a bit unpleasant. Great location, and you'll have a nice view if you get a room at the front. Don't pay extra for a double room--you will still only get twin beds. All in all, it's not too bad, but maybe it's a bit expensive for what you get.

We stayed in the first floor dorm, with a sink that gurgled and a door that HAD to be unlocked all of the time. When we asked for a key, we were told that having one would confuse the receptionists on the next shift!! The staff do not know much about the city and sporadically speak English. The showers are kind of clean, but use the showers on the second and third floors!!! In terms of meeting people and a place to stay, you can DEFINITELY do better, although the location of the hostel is GREAT! It's right near a bunch of pubs, bars, art exhibits, cheaply priced food, and an underground station.

Very rough and ready! The building has obviously been earmarked for demolition and redevelopment as part of local plans for the north end of Friedrichstrasse. Shared washing facilities of dubious quality (no hot water at the hand basins), although there was sufficient hot water to shower. The (cold) running water in our room didn't run, but the heating worked fine.
Local extras... McDonald's is virtually next door, a bakery/breakfast bar just a few doors north together with a SPAR mini-market, the gasthof on the ground floor (adjacent) opens late and is well priced, several hostelries within a stone's throw providing good food at a fair price, and a refreshments booth which always seemed to be open was just a minute's walk away.
A point of warning - don't be taken in by the photo on the www.hostel-adler.de web site! At the time of our visit, there was acres of scafolding on the front of the building block and the builders working on the block next door cranked up the machinery at 07:20 hrs on the dot! At EURO 35.00 per night for a twin room in the centre of Berlin, Hostel Adler is a case of "you get what you pay for". Basic, but not for anyone looking for any degree of comfort.
