A big Hosteling International hostel. It takes about half an hour to get there from the train station (taking the metro and transfering to a bus). The location isn't very close to much of anything. The Vatican is probably the closest attraction at about 2 km away. You generally need to take a bus to go anywhere, even to buy food, but the hostel's dining hall does serve lunch and dinner at a reasonable price.
Guys and girls rooms are in separate halves of the building. The beds are bunkbeds, with about 10 beds per room, with large lockers in the rooms. The bathrooms are functional (with hot showers), but there is graffiti everywhere (mostly in the men's bathrooms) and they aren't very clean. There are many common areas, including a large dining hall, a TV room, and an outdoor grassy courtyard with chairs, but it isn't a very social hostel in terms of meeting people.
