Young Dudes is the quintessential surf hostel, and the quintessential backpackers too. It's located 100 yards from the first really great sand break, on the Tijuana-Ensenada Highway, going south. (K58.7)
It was set up by two guys with hostel experience in Victoria Falls, Cape Town, Durban, Surfers' Paradise, Biarritz and Newquay, so it's got just about everything.
Accommodation-wise there's a combination of dorms, singles and doubles to suit all pockets and moods!
Food-wise it's pizzas and barbeque packs. Plus free tea and coffee.
Other facilities provided are laundry, free WIFI, a pole-dancing pole, a pool table and Sport TV, which includes proper football from England and Europe, as well as the American variety. Our staff is happy to help sort out transport and activities.
Talking of activities, we have a variety of affordable activities that will keep you engaged year round. For example, a half hour surfing lesson typically costs around US$35. Until further notice it will cost our guests only US$15 for the same product. The same bargains stand for horse riding, microlights - including flying lessons, and more.
Our reception is open from 6am to 10pm. Late check-in and late check-out can be arranged.
Internet is by WIFI only but we've got a house laptop that can be used by request.

Location
• We're on the beach at Playa La Fonda in Alisitos, Baja Mexico and just a stone's throw away from local beaches Playa La Mision and La Salina
• If you're coming by car, we can be seen from the Tijuana-Enseada highway after the k-65 marker (about 20kms south of Rosarito). The whole area is called k-58 (named after the markers on the FREE road). We're on the beach second line, about 50 metres from the water in a bright blue 3 story gleaming with fluorescent green trim. Look for the sign of a bikini-clad surfer girl brandishing a surfboard.
• Driving south, we're less than 20 minutes south of the the toll booth after Rosarito. About 10 minutes after you've passed the exit for Puerto Nuevo, you'll come around the bend and take the exit for La Fonda/La Misíon/Plaza Del Mar. This will deposit you about 25m South of the hostel. Turn right and you'll see our building on the left as you drive towards Pepe's Market (with the big Corona sign).
• If you're coming from Ensenada, we're about at 45 minute drive North. After you pass the port town of La Salina (you'll see the Oxxo/Pemex on the North end of town) you're about 5 minutes away. Take the exit for Alisitos/La Misíon after the k-66 marker. This will deposit you right at Pepe's Market and the arches that lead into the campground. We're about 100 meters south of the exit from the highway.
• By public transport, it's a minibus from Tijuana to Rosarito. In Rosarito you'll grab another bus in the direction of La Mision town - Look for the red, white, & blue minibus. Tell the bus driving 'Quiero ir a La Fonda'. You can also say 'Pepe's Mercado en La Fonda' or 'La Fonda Hotel' to give them a few landmarks to reference.
• You can also grab an ABC bus from the border zone. Tell the driver 'Quiero ir a La Fonda'. This bus takes the toll road and will drop you off at the sign for 'La Fonda/La Misíon/Plaza Del Mar'. Walk North 25m to our blue building.
• It's less than an hour's drive from Tijuana. By minibus, it's about 90 minutes.
