San José, California, USA, is very a spread-out city but it has a lot to offer. Using public transportation, you can get as far north as San Francisco and as far south as Gilroy. San José has many different neighborhoods and is home to a branch of the California State University in the downtown area.

Downtown San José has the hustle of a working city and converts to social spot at night. Although downtown is also home to some of the homeless population, there are many interesting restaurants and bars to check out. The San José Tech Museum is very enjoyable for everyone, no matter what age -- it's an interactive museum where you can learn about science and all the while have loads of fun while participating in the activities. There are also the famous San José Improv comedy club and SAP Center for different forms of entertainment and events. This area is also home to the majority of the San José, California, USA hostels.

West San José has a very upscale shopping center by the name of Santana Row on one of the main streets, Stevens Creek Boulevard. Santana Row has many brand name boutiques and shops and is also a host to very many expensive restaurants. It is very close to another shopping mall and a movie theater. One of the attractions near this area is the Winchester Mystery House. Although usually visited during Halloween, the Winchester House is an old building that is part of San José's history.

Those with children might be interested in visiting the water park, Raging Waters, in East San José. It's a very fun place to spend the day with family during a hot California summer. Be sure to bring lots of sunscreen!

The Berryessa Flea Market is also a lovely place to visit to find interesting stuff and trinkets, as well as another fun place to take the kids for the playhouses and small fair rides.
