San Gennaro Castello, dating back 1692, used to be the olive oil mill of the village
of San Gennaro in the castle proximity.
The castle, of which unfortunately nothing remains, was probably destroyed at the beginning of the XIIIth century by a popular uprising against the citizens of Porcari, who had killed the magistrate sent by Lucca.
The b&b has been recently eco renovated using local natural materials (terracotta tiles,
"Matraia" stones, chestnut wood beams etc.) to preserve the historic character of the mill.
The property is developed on three floors. On the ground floor you can find the original
olive mill of San Gennaro dated 1600. Making up the first floor is the reception, lounge, gym
and the Sports Bar dining area plus two suites. Here you can access the panoramic garden
with a gazebo and a bbq for al fresco dining. The second floor is comprised of one suite
and one bedroom. From the garden, as well as the bedrooms on the second floor,
you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of Lucca hills with its vineyards and olive groves.
