It's located in the Marin Headlands, a hilly natural park area in Marin, located across the bay from San Francisco. The hostel is just up the hill from the lagoon. It's a large and spacious hostel. It's a short drive from the city by car and parking is available at the hostel. Direct public transportation by bus is only available on Sundays and holidays. Sausalito Travel Tips & Suggestions Comment by Jeff Sausalito sits just over the Golden Gate bridge from San Francisco. It's a wonderful port town with higher-end shops, good seafood, and pubs and bars. There are tons of sailboats in several marinas. There is a nice ferry to San Francisco. I'm a native of Marin County -- it is filled with mostly friendly people driving expensive cars. Pretty sites include Marin Headlands looking over to (I'm a native) and Golden Gate Bridge, Angle Island (good day trip/hike), Tiburon, and Sausalito Waterfront.
