Sacramento Auberge de Jeunesses    "A large downtown hostel converted from a beautiful old mansion. It really is an impressive place to see. When you walk inside there is a hall with reading rooms along the sides, all decorated Victorian style with dark polished wood. Beyond this front part of the hostel, the rest of it is more modern and conventional. The dorm rooms have single beds and bund beds (sturdy wood ones that won't rattle or sway). The rooms even have fans in the summer to keep you cool (an idea that other...  "This place is very dirty. The bathroom was so filthy I had to wear shoes in the shower. There really is no kitchen area, just an assortment of odd cups that are absolutely filthy. The room itself has one bed and another bunk bed and not much room. The walls are painted black and have straw pasted all over, including the ceiling. It smells of mold and mildew. There is no real outside access or private entry. The owner lives on premises. It is very difficult to have privacy and even more...
