They are incredibly friendly and help you with all your questions on travel within the region. We stayed initially in a four-bed dorm that was comfortable and then hitched up a tent in the garden for $10 each. They have free Internet,...![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "L'auberge de jeunesse contient 80 lits eparpillees dans des petits dortoires (pas plus de 4 lits par dortoire) et chambres privees. I was low on funds and found this hostel. I was very impressed with how nice and helpful the staff was. They sent someone to the airport to pick my roommate and I up. I was traveling with thirty pounds of fish and they found room in their freezer to store it for me. This place is within walking...![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Anchorage seems to make all its money on tourists. Every hotel price I saw was stupidly unreasonable ($175 and up per night). Jason provides a wonderful alternative for those who don't mind sharing a room with others. The facilities more than suffice for a place to lay your head, providing any feature a hotel provides. Beyond that, the hospitality here is amazing. Jason and James are very...![]() "Qupqugiaq Inn is a remarkable first-class hostel and a beautiful space for conscious independent travelers. Filled with curving walls, organic materials, and international themes, Qupqugiaq is a great value and a cool place to stay.

The good news is, there is no sales tax in Anchorage.
They have two kitchens and four bathrooms. The dorms are a little tight, but ok, and can sleep up to 6 people. The kitchen and dining areas are separated, so you don't have to cook in the crowd. The local free maps, make it easy to show you how to get to the right stree. The location of this hostel is great, however, that is about the only postive. This hostel lost is lustre a long-time ago and it doesn't take long to work out that its Hostel International membership has long since expired....![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "This is, by far, the best hostel I have ever stayed in. It is VERY clean and resembles a B & B rather than a hostel except for the dorm room. Andy was very helpful in suggesting things to do. I was there by myself and was not "weirded out" but appreciated the time he took to make suggestions or invite me along to the bar where he was playing at or out for dinner with everyone at the hostel (I...![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Lovely place to stay with hosts who are kind and very helpful - This place is the ideal place for travelers on the move or even for those who wish to linger awhile in anchorage. Not the best neighborhood to be in if you are a straight-edge."
"While the hostel itself isn't bad, the area of town it is in is rather dodgy. (I heard gunshots just outside my window.) The staff can be pleasant or downright surly."
