Referred to as the country's “Summer Capital”, Sochi, Russia, is a beautiful and popular sea resort. Lying along the scenic Black Sea Coast, Sochi is full of sandy beaches, rocky coastlines, and bustling life. The city is not only popular as the busiest and biggest summer resort in Russia, but it is also world famous for hosting the Olympics and Paralympics in 2014. Lying in the subtropical climatic zone, Sochi basks in 300 days of sunshine with high humidity levels. The ideal time to visit the city is during the months of summer, from May until October. Peak season is during July and August, whereas September through October is the perfect time to plan your vacation. There are very few visitors at that time, due to the school season, and you can get convenient and comfortable accommodations at hostels in Sochi, Russia, for your entire travel group.

On a visit to Sochi, there is no dearth of the places you can visit. If you love history, be sure to stop off at some of the many historical sites, including Stalinist-period, empire-syle buildings and many monuments. One among them is the Churchill, Roosevelt, and Stalin monument, which is the only monument to these key figures in history. There is also the classical Greek myth-inspired The Golden Fleece. Not to be missed is the Olympic Countdown Clock, the hosting of which has established Sochi's popularity in the world.

Other places of interest to visit include the Sochi Art Museum and th Riviera Park and Dendrarium. Mount Akhun in the Khosta district is notable for giving an exquisite view overlooking the city. Akhtyrshskaya Cave is known for many petroglyphic drawings and other primeval remains. If breathtaking views are your ideal, the thirty three waterfalls in the Lazarevskoe district are a sight to behold. The Greater Sochi area also contains several scenic waterfalls that you can stop off at to view.

There are several affordable hostels in Sochi, Russia, enabling you to save money on accommodation and spend it exploring this scenic city. Hostels in the Lazarevskoe district are much cheaper than hostels in Central Sochi and other places. You can find budget hostels especially the train station, museum and galleries. Most hostels in the city center area offer free Wi-Fi, towels, coffee, and other complimentary items. Hostel prices vary depending on the season. Traditionally, hostel prices are high during the summer months, so always book in advance during Summer.
