"Nice appearance but not that customer friendly - This is a very pleasant and clean hostel although a little more like the functional hostels of old ... it is very much a youth hostel and not a backpackers hostel. There's a very large guests kitchen for preparing and eating your own meals although it seems a large number of guests opt to do this so it gets very busy. "A great place in a great tucked away spot. - It's clean, it's a friendly atmosphere like all rural YHAs seem to have, and a location that's well worth the walk. "Harbour Grange Backpackers / Whitby Backpackers' Nordic owner, Birgitta, is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. She really makes an effort to get to know her guests and even though we arrived a little late she showed no sign of annoyance. The facilities are simple but completely adequate and the location perfect for exploring Whitby.
