Te Anau Auberge de Jeunesses "Steamers Beach Backpackers is actually part of a larger holiday park that has camping sites and various other lodges and cabins. Overall, it is a great facility. The kitchen, toilets, and showers are very clean and well stocked. The kitchen and TV lounge are located in a separate building adjacent to the bunk house and seem to be new or recently remodeled -- especially the kitchen with four burner ranges, two ovens and two microwaves plus four separate sinks and industrial-size fridges... The hostel is located right on the lake very close to the center of town. It has three different types of accomadation. 1) The camper (literally a camper you would attatch to a car and go on a road trip), those are located in a small field with shared outside facilities. 2) The typical dorm room with anywhere from 4-10 residents 3)...(Rainbow Downs)  "Nice (if you have a car) - If you have a car (as this place is quite a bit outside of Te Anau) and are looking for a nice place to stay in Te Anau: that is it! It was so cute there: The main building with the two fire places, a spotless clean and best equipped kitchen: a very nice place. Only I think it is better visited in Summer because we were freezing quite a bit in our cabin with only one little heater. But the whole thing was so nice we didn't complain too much about it!" …...
