Te Anau Auberge de Jeunesses "Steamers Beach Backpackers is actually part of a larger holiday park that has camping sites and various other lodges and cabins. Overall, it is a great facility. The kitchen, toilets, and showers are very clean and well stocked. The kitchen and TV lounge are located in a separate building adjacent to the bunk house and seem to be new or recently remodeled -- especially the kitchen with four burner ranges, two ovens and two microwaves plus four separate sinks and industrial-size fridges... Des chambres..."(Lake Tekapo)   "Te Anua is a great base for trips to the Milford Sound. There isn't much to do in the town but the lake is gorgeous and the walk around it even prettier. The hostel is located right on the lake very close to the center of town. It has three different types of accomadation. 1) The camper (literally a camper you would attatch to a car and go on a road trip), those are located in a small field with shared outside facilities. 2) The typical dorm room with anywhere from 4-10 residents 3)... "Bob and Maxine's Backpackers is a comfortable, modern hostel that's the perfect place to slow down and relax. The friendly owners live just across the parking lot, and do their best to foster a comfortable communal experience.
The Location
The hostel is a bit out of the way, located a short drive north of town in a new development. However, signage is good and it would be difficult to miss. The town centre is a bit away if you don't have a car, so it's best to take advantage of the...(Rainbow Downs) "Nice (if you have a car) - If you have a car (as this place is quite a bit outside of Te Anau) and are looking for a nice place to stay in Te Anau: that is it! It was so cute there: The main building with the two fire places, a spotless clean and best equipped kitchen: a very nice place. Only I think it is better visited in Summer because we were freezing quite a bit in our cabin with only one little heater. But the whole thing was so nice we didn't complain too much about it!" …...
