Kaikoura Auberge de Jeunesses   "Continuing along the main seaside road, about ten minutes past town is the Lazy Shag Backpackers. In few words, this hostel is a run-of-the-mill, no stand-outs, no frills, just the to-be-expected basics. There is a kitchen, computer corner, and a TV area downstairs. The hostel looks like a modern lodge, without any rustic charm, save the fireplace. But, even it is awkwardly set off in a...  "The Adelphi Lodge is situated in the centre of Kaikoura (West End). Kaikoura is the centre of New Zealand's marine life, where you can do whale watching or go swimming with dolphins and seals. Highway 1 leads through Kaikoura and the town can be easily reached by bus or car. Coaches stop just two hundred meters from the backpackers. The hostel provides plenty of off-street parking right behind... "Dusky Lodge is centrally located in Kaikoura, though from the outside has a bit of a Motel 6 look about, and just a stone's throw away from the water, as well as an easy walk to the main street.

There is plenty of free car parking and it's... "Up a narrow steep pathway five minutes above the main street of Kaikoura lies Top Spot. It has the same owners as The Lazy Shag, a few meters north along the coast, but unlike its modern counterpart, this hostel has fifty more years under its roof, which gives it a more relaxed old-fashioned feel.

It's just a fairly small home, so it's not one of the big hostels you will find in larger cities. It has a very cozy feel to it. The rooms and facilities... They are located about a 15 minute walk out from the main center of town, but offer free rides to and from the bus stop as well as loaner bicycles while you're staying with them.
