Accommodation is usually limited to 5-6 people to allow for a unique home style feel to the place. Larger groups may be accommodated but must be pre-booked. All facilities are gay friendly.

They give you information about the local area, including a map and numerous suggestions about what you can do whilst you are in the...(Takaka)   "The Shambhala is a backpackers and eco-retreat. It is truly a hidden paradise with its own beach access and magnificent panoramic sea views. The hostel is located on the Highway 60 between Takaka and Collingwood and easily reachable by car.
The shared dorms have no bunks, but comfortable made-up beds and a view towards the bay. The building is basically self-sustained and run by solar... "I still have the fondest memories of my stay at this brilliantly and thoughtfully run establishment in August '01. There was hot fresh bread in the morning, an excellent spa pool, and superb ambience.
