"Maya Bell is set in the jungle, which makes for a really wonderful romantic setting. However, because it is more or less just a campground, lighting is poor, bathrooms dirty, and nature is abundant. To get there take a collective before six and ask to be dropped off at Maya Bell. After six, a cab is your only option. If you are unfamiliar with the campground, arrive before dark as staff just kind of hands you your hammock and sends you on your way. Bring a flashlight and bug repellent. "… great for those wanting to escape civilization. There is space for outside camping (but beware of mosquitos and other insects!), as well as huts made out of bamboo with 2, 3 or 4 beds inside. Some huts have private bathrooms while others (cheaper) share a common one. There is also a small natural pool, in which water comes from a stream. "Essentially, Jungle Palace is not a hostel that offers dormitories. However, it is one of the cheapest accommodations in El Panchan (possibly also Palenque). As the name implies, it is established in a jungle with fresh clean air, the occasional sightings of monkeys, a symphony of birds and bugs, as well as unpaved roads -- although the cabanas do not really resemble the palace most people have in mind.
