Verona is a medium-size city in the Veneto Region, mostly known for the romantic story of Romeo and Juliet. The city not only offers romantic spots, but also rich history, elegant shops, and lively markets. There is a wide range of accommodations, including guesthouses and hostels in Verona -- mainly found near Porta Nuova, close to main train station and city center. You can walk there or take one of the reliable buses that leave from the front of the train station terminal. From Porta Nuova to the city center, it's just a fifteen-minute walk.
The must-see of the city is the Arena, built in the first century A.D. -- one of the best amphitheaters in Italy. If you are visiting a Verona hostel in the summer season, try to buy a ticket for the opera. From here, walk down to city centre and arrive in the historical and charming Piazza Bra, where you can see old buildings and sit in stylish cafes. Then take via Mazzini and walk until the end where Juliet's house is. Don't forget to take a picture of the famous balcony and write your name (and that of your beloved) on the wall. Also visit Piazza delle Erbe, where there is an interesting local market, and Piazza dei Signori, also known as Piazza Dante, where you can see beautiful buildings in different architectural styles.
The city is full of food options, so leave your Verona hostel and explore the small alleys near Piazza Bra to find an Osteria or Restaurant. Remember that restaurants on the main street are always more expensive.
