Santa Teresa Auberge de Jeunesses

"Excellent - Caesar (owner) and his wife are awesome! Very friendly and accommodating! The rooms are nice -- dormitory style with five sets of bunks. We arrived on a weds. and on Fri. Caesar and friends cooked for us. We had salad, whole fresh fish, sides, and drink for about a quarter what it would have cost us had we eaten out! From the moment you met the entire staff they make you feel at home and are treated like family! we will be back soon!" … This new hostel owned and managed by...
"Great vibe and layout - Tranquilo is one of the best hostels anywhere, with a great location, terrific layout, and very good facilities. It is not luxurious but easily lives up to the backpacking standard. The sewage problem is something the whole town deals with, sadly. Tranquilo is a great place to meet people because of the way it's laid out with communal tables, the large kitchen, dozens of hammocks, and free pool and ping-pong. Most nights get pretty rowdy but because quiet hours are...
"I rate this place the best in the Northern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Free spirited, great ambiance, great gardens, oceanfront. What else do you want for $6?" … "Santa Teresa Hammock Hotel is what's happening! Friendly staff; we loved Marcos. It's the best surfing area in all Santa Teresa-Mal Pais. You cannot get any better for $6 a night. Loved the community kitchen and El Rancho, where we had our meals." … "I had a great time. I loved the Hammocks Hotel. It was clean and neat....

I love Santa Teresa -- very nice spot for surfing and to party too. The beach is huge and very beautiful. We had really a good time.

Great place, but if you don't surf, not much point of going there. Kinda expensive, besides surf beaches are quite dirty. Great spot, but will never go back.
