Townsville Auberge de Jeunesses    "The Civic Guest House Backpackers Inn is one of those hostels that you thank the God of backpackers for blessing you with. You simply cannot fault it in anyway and it's nice to stay there. The place itself is a good fifteen- to twenty-minute walk from the Greyhound bus stop, but the owners will come and pick you up on request. From the hostel, the main town centre and nightclub areas are about... "Ok for a few days -- no free dinner - The hostel looks like it is a old motel, with all the rooms having an en-suite bathroom and toilet. It is really clean and the showers are really nice, but you really have to be lucky with the beds, the first night I stayed here it was really sh*tty and I might as well have slept on the ground. The second night however, I chose another bed in the room and... "Reef Lodge is a new hostel in Townsville, and is located just off of the main downtown street. This makes it ideally situated to the pubs, restaurants and cafes that line the Esplanade.
While still undergoing renovations, the building is in good condition and the dorm rooms are relatively clean. All rooms have air conditioning, a the more expensive dorms come with a fridge and toaster.... "Base Townsville is located in the transit centre and is therefore very handy for connecting with the coach services. This hostel has a very different layout from the Base on Magnetic Island, but has the same relaxed, chilled-out atmosphere. There is a large TV room offering a offering all the cable channels on a huge widescreen TV and very comfortable seating. In the same room there is also...32 Hale Street
