"What can I say about this place. Myself and five other friends from Colorado stayed in one of the very nice and new apartments for two weeks (sept '06) to do some skiing at the end of the earth. Lucas and his family are the most friendly, helpful, polite, and coolest people we met down there. It's all you could ask for in a hostel. They can set you up with any recreational assistance you need! They also guide the best horseback rides in the summer months, I'm told! "very warm and friendly place to stay small and homey where meeting people is very easy. i stayed here with my friend in december 2004. the staff were lovely. their cat even managed to sleep with us. ok, ushuaia does get a bit boring if you cant find a bar, but with good talk we always managed. the little wooden rooms out the back make a beautiful platform to watch the never dark sky. you can feel too much at home here and not want to leave." … "… you can be carried away by the desire to find out about yourself. "I am just leaving tomorrow after 5 nights at this wonderfully clean, warm and friendly hostel. It's my favorite hostel so far after 3 weeks in Argentina and I'm planning on recommending it to everyone who is headed to Ushuaia. The rooms are huge, and there is loads of space to make a mess if you are like me and like to unpack your bag within minutes of arrival. "Update -- they have wifi now. One other thing to add is that they have a lot of very rigid rules which there are no exceptions. My friend came to visit and was told she could sit in the dining room but could not eat or drink anything! That is a bit harsh if you ask me. I tried to check out after that and since I had paid for four days in advance, they wanted to keep half my money. "After trying out two other hostels in Ushuaia, we finally found Hostel Aonikenk. It's cheap and has awesome views, free internet, and breakfast as well as clean comfy beds. What more could you want? The Location Hostel Aonikenk is thirty meters from the corner of Magallanes and av. 25 de Mayo. It's a bit of a climb from the centre of town, but Ushuaia is at the foot of the Andes, so it's sort of expected. If you arrive in Ushuaia by bus, the driver might be able to drop you off close by!
