Prague is packed with history and charisma. The sights are well kept and certainly arent a let down. The prices are still cheap and accomodation is very good. The food is cheap as hell and extremely good quality....my tip is try Jizeera, perfect for a nice meal. The castle offers great views of the city while Charles Bridge always seems to have performers and exhibitions on to keep you entertained. This city is a sheer delight and is a must for anyone serious about travelling Europe.
Český Krumlov … I travelled for three months and when I arrived in Cesky Krumlov I finally experienced what I was looking for. You can really immerse yourself in a foreign culture there. Cesky Krumlov is a place to be visited for more than just a couple of days... but beware, once you settle in it's really hard to leave. It makes you ponder in a way that few places can inspire you to. I recommend staying in a small hostel... the big ones can get too noisy.
Český Krumlov … Cesky Krumlov is an incredibly picturesque place where you simply must go. Great food and the prices are still fairly low. Definitely, definitely go to the restaurant in the Eggenberg brewery. Try the roast duck with dumplings, and the dark beer -- one of the best meals of my life! If you do go, go soon. This place was really turning a corner when I was there in May of 2006, and while it was still extremely charming, cheesy souvenir shops with signs in Japanese characters were starting to pop up on various streets. At times the tour bus crowds can be a bit thick, but they never stay overnight and are gone by late afternoon.
What a city! Prague is so beautiful that I didn't want to leave! Enjoy the not sleeping night-life and the magic atmosphere all over the castle and the Jewish ghetto.
For a night out in Prague go to the square. There are heaps of young people there drinking beer from the kiosks (very cheap) and chatting in groups. It's a perfect place to meet new people, and the ones we met knew of good clubs to visit, so I'd recommend it as a starting point for your night out. Also beautiful when the church and town hall are lit up.
Had a great time in Prague, lots of sights to see and cheap food to eat - great!!
