La Posada del Maple is well located right within Quito's New Town, where most backpackers stay. It is only a few metres from Av. 6 de Diciembre along which runs the Ecovia, one of the cheap and fast public transport systems in Quito. Juan Rodríguez is halfway between two stops, Manuela Coñizares and La Cólon. When first arriving with your pack the easiest way to get to La Posada del Maple is to use the taxis. Always agree the price before accepting the lift.
It's within easy walking distance are numerous internet cafes, restaurants, laundries and pubs. You do need to be careful when walking about the New Town at night, La Posada del Maple is a block or two away from the main busy area.
When you arrive at the office you could actually end up staying at one of three different hostels. Posada del Maple itself, Posada de los Jazmines across the street or Hostal Alcalá a short walk away. All are administered from the same office and all have use of the facilities at Posada del Maple. A returnable $2 key deposit is required for which you will recieve a bunch of up to 4 keys. They take a while to get used to.
The hostel is friendly and well run. Dorms, batrooms, common areas and dining area are all very clean. Bed linen is provided and the dorms are cleaned daily. Breakfast is included in the price and is something to look forward to. It is served from 7:30am to a very reasonable 10am and really is all you can eat, juice, fruit, eggs, cereal,toast, pancakes and tea/coffee.
The dining room is spacious, the long tables providing a sociable atmosphere to eat in. There is also a reading/TV room with a well stocked book exchange, reference library and TV/video and a selection of videos. The reception area has lots of seating and information on tours and trips.
